A swamp filled with maliciously poisonous water, sapping away the life of those who merely touch it, threatening to end the existence of the region’s inhabitants. A snow covered mountain with a tireless blizzard, lowering the temperature more in more to where spring shall never come, risking total arctic stasis to those who live in the villages of the mountain. A bay of confusion and loss, illness and heartbreak. The waves brining death and fear with the murky depths of the dragon cloud storm swirling around in the distance. The children cry out to their mother who cannot cry in return. A canyon where the dead roam. Lost souls and vengeful spirits stalk and lurk for their prey, their next victim to take their place in the hellish limbo of the afterlife. Those who refuse to move on haunt in memory of the ancient stone towers high above them, as the wind of pure evil blows out into the valley. In the middle of it all, a field, a ranch, and a town, seemingly untouched by the surroundings of horror and sorrow. The inhabitants continue their lives peacefully and in excitement for the annual festival of their mediocre lives. They live oblivious to the single fact that just above their heads, they’re being watched. Always being watched. And soon, will be consumed. Everything will be consumed as the symbol of night falls into the earth and shatters the new day light. They’ve all met with a terrible fate... including one newcomer from another land. What will his story behold?

How have I literally not realized that the four regions have the same basic melody. This is my favorite game, but the different instrumentation managed to completely fool me... Anyway, this video is amazing, I hope you keep making some of the best Zelda (and other things) covers on KZbin! I've seen your videos before, but I didn't bother to sub until now. I'll fix that now :)

A lot of people didn't notice it at first, which actually blows my mind because it was the very first thing I picked up on when I entered each of the four different regions. It's fascinating how some people can pick up on things that others will completely miss. I'd wager there are things you noticed right away that I never picked up on until literally decades later.

@@KurtisC93 When the video started, I thought "Wait, that's not the swamp song, that's the beach song! No, that's the mountain's song? How come I can't tell them apart when I played the game so much?"

I always wondered how some people never noticed that the four main areas all have the same melody but remixed.

Another interesting thing is that the four regions correspond to the four directions of a compass and a world map of the Earth North - Snowhead (Canada, Northern Europe, etc; cold regions) South - Woodfall / Southern Swamp (South America, rainforest/jungle, or swamp in Southern U.S., i.e. in Florida) East - Ikana (Canyon/desert, Eastern mythology references, i.e. the Tower of Babel) West - Great Bay (Pacific Ocean, San Francisco Bay, etc.)

@@msvoy I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if the layout was loosely based on a real world map since they had a certain amount of time to finish making the game and that was a quick and easy design, so yeah

And yet another one 🤣 The four regions as the card suits (Interestingly, they also fit perfectly given the respective order of each): Woodfall - Clubs (The clubs' tips sort of resemble lily pads, like in the Southern Swamp) Snowhead - Diamonds (Ice, crystals, cave/mine, etc.) Great Bay - Hearts (The New Wave Bossa Nova being sort of romantic, a general theme of love; Mikau and Lulu's love, Lulu's love for her offspring, as well as water being associated with the heart, feelings/emotions) Ikana - Spades (A 'spade' is literally a shovel; The Ikana Graveyard, Dampé, digging graves, etc.)

Ok, here's another observation 🤣 albeit a simpler one, but one nonetheless; the four regions can correspond to the four main elements: Air - Ikana (The canyons go high up, as well as Stone Tower, and then there's the inverted sky, the Twinmold insects are largely an aerial boss that flies around) Water - Great Bay (Of course, because ocean) Earth - Woodfall (Obviously, because trees, swamp, Deku people, etc) Fire - Snowhead (Home of the Gorons in the game, the Gorons are known for having the fire element, lava in the Snowhead Temple, fire to melt the snow)

The four areas themes I always thought were severely underrated among Zelda songs. I like how they’re all the same song but remixed to fit with the environment they’re playing in. I especially liked the Ikana Canyon version because it has Malon’s voice.

The four regions could be interpreted as the four seasons in a few different ways, 1.) Woodfall - Spring (Flowers, like the Deku Flowers, and also matching the first region with the first season) Great Bay - Summer (Beach vacation, warm weather etc.) Ikana - Fall (Canyon, dry, no leaves on the trees) Snowhead - Winter (Obviously, because snow and ice, blizzard) 2.) Snowhead - Spring (It starts out Winter, but when you lift the curse, the snow and ice melt and life blooms into Spring) Woodfall - Summer (Jungle/swamp; tall jungle trees, frogs, life is at it's fullest/richest, swamps are hot/humid) Great Bay - Fall (Everything is slowly dying) Ikana - Winter (Everything is already dead, the trees have lost their leaves, and just like with Snowhead, when the curse is lifted, new life blooms; the transition from Winter to Spring) And then the final one is just the game's original order: Woodfall - Spring (Again) Snowhead - Summer (The hot springs, the Gorons' element in the games is fire [besides being made of rock], and there's lava in the Snowhead Temple which would suggest 'heat'; i.e., the snow and ice melting when the curse is lifted) Great Bay - Fall (Again) Ikana - Winter (Again)
