I don’t know what traditional Japanese instrument is being used, definitely sounds like some kind of string instrument. I want to say it’s the shamisen but a part of me is reluctant to say so, but nevertheless the important part is that it sounds very Inazuma. The thing that most people would notice about this track upon hearing it in game is the synthwave sort of texture and electronic feel of the track, which has a… I wouldn’t say ominous, but more so an imposing and “electrifying” presence that commands and instills a kind of fear in the player that isn’t intense by any means, but more so, like I said, imposing. If that wasn’t genius enough, aside from a few short bursts where it stops, the entire track is underlined with the mellow methodical *ba-dump* of a heartbeat. I’ve seen one other person assume that that was the heartbeat of the Traveller because of the dire situation they were in, but I disagree since it sounds too calm and collected to be the Traveller’s heartbeat. And, considering this is (what I assume to be) the first part of the Raiden Shogun’s battle theme, I am inclined to believe that we are hearing her heart. After all, we are fighting her in a space that she created with her sword which she pulled out from her chest, or her heart. On top of referencing how the Traveller got into the situation to begin with, the heartbeat also exemplifies Ba’al’s calm demeanor, or rather, her emotionless command over the situation. And if this track wasn’t amazing enough, Yu-Peng Chen adds in a crunchy electric guitar to further exemplify not only the Raiden Shogun’s thunderous presence, but also the situation becoming more and more dire. (The heartbeat also acts as a really good source of percussion for the song.) And as if my day couldn’t get any more better from playing Genshin, Vetrom goes on and uploads his rendition of this track for our listening enjoyment. God I love this game, and this channel!

I made sure to avoid spoilers for this update. So glad I did, because I was not expecting an actual fight. This was probably the most terrifying boss in Genshin, especially when she knocks out all of your abilities. I couldn't just shield everything with Zhongli anymore.
