Glad to see that you have now gotten one of these too. For the price I have been really happy with mine. Very interested to see what sort of projects you'll be making with it. Interestingly enough, I bought mine from Vevor and looks to be identical, but it came it a different brand chuck. I agree and recommend taking it apart and reoiling and greasing it, there was a fair amount of grit and dust left over from when they machined it when I did it. Cheers

Yeah after watching your video buddy I thought it looked a great bit of kit for a good price. Can’t wait to cut some gears with it, but first like you sed ill clean out casting grit and regreese everything.

To adjust the tail, flip it upside-down, laying flat on use space gauges or adjustable parallels to lift the casting up to hight

This was very handy, just bought one the exact same. Cheap like Borscht but nicely made eh! Enjoyed your gear cutting too.

Joe, To set the tail centre up extend the tail centre as far as can loosen the bolts set up the headstock and tail stock on the mill bed or surface plate grip the tail centre in the chuck then tighten up the tail stock centre or use a piece of silver steel the right diameter in place of the tail centre and do the same for more accuracy replace the chuck with a morse taper collet and do the same. Hope this helps. Another great video. Jon.

I’ve got a large scale machine shop and can handle multi tonne workpieces but I really fancy one of these for little jobs and not get a hernia lifting my Cincinnati one!

A good investment and a nice bit of kit, along with your gears you will be able to show us how to generate a sphere with this dividing head and a boring head on the mill 🙂 Oooh, yes the tailstock can be fiddley, but there will be instances where the work has to be inclined up or down a smidgy bit and your equipment will accommodate that. Don't worry about taking it to bits, it might be more trouble than it's worth.
@MachiningwithJoe
@MachiningwithJoe 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think it was definitely needed in the workshop. I like the idea of turning spheres will look into that and give it ago.

Cracking review Joe… I compared prices and found that this kit (just like the Vevor VFD) is cheaper directly from Vevor UK than off eBay..! I’m looking forward to what you discover when you strip this down. Keep up the good work, All the best…

Hi Aidan yeah I found the same sellers on eBay are charging a lot more so bought it direct at a cheaper price. Yeah so far seems really good bit of kit. Used it to cut 100t module 1 gears no problem was great.

Same thing in the states, I was just wondering if shipping would be faster with Amazon or ebay but realized it's just people trying to make a buck so thats why there more.

For adjusting the height of the tailstock; try a couple of wood sims to hold it in place while you tighten the bolts.

There should be an indent on the side of the dividing head to help hold the tailstock when adjusting.

I just got an 8inch vevor rotary table yesterday. It was cheap as chips at 215bucks. First impression, it's better than the one I didnt have. For the twice a year I'll use it, it was worth the money. Sure I would have liked a high quality table, but this is good enough. As with all cheap chinese junk, I'll take it apart and clean out the trash in it first.

I like that saying “better than the one I didn’t have” very good thinking when it comes to these Chinese tools. Better get something and once it breaks due to plenty of use then buy decent. Glad your enjoy your table. All the best.

Some sort of T bolt on the tail stock might do the job! I have been eyeing one of these off for a while, so if you dont mind, a couple of questions. Which one did you get? The add has 3 sizes, but they are based on plate size? Also, when you have it setup in "rotary table" mode, how tall is it? I have a lot of Z travel in my mill, but that looks tall!
@MachiningwithJoe
@MachiningwithJoe 2 жыл бұрын
Hi jack good idea with the t bolts. So I got the 4 inch plate model and when I’m next in the shop I’ll stand it up and measure it for you. 👍

I was going to buy one with my vise and belt for the mill, but was getting so pissed looking at Amazon and ebay. Vevor is 195, but Amazon prices can be anywhere from 250 to 500 which is absolutely sickening to me. I'll definitely be ordering direct. I wouldn't mind disassembling it to make sure everything is good, as the reviews people seem to have problems with everything, probably human error.

A tap hole and a bolt that goes into it it's gotta be adjustable mate! You can't be a tapped hole sometimes you're gonna be setting that at an angle you're gonna need it a couple of degrees out of square it's got to be adjustable you're not a machinist are you?
@howardosborne8647
@howardosborne8647 2 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right that 2 tapped holes aren't the answer to the 2 individual but and bolt assemblies. What it needs is a piece of rectangular flat stock with the 2 holes tapped through the flat stock at the suitable centres. Effectively one elongated but with both the clamping threads in it.
