I have been using the same Vevor for 2 years, i do the Vinyl Vac method for pre cleaning and a vac dry after Ultrasonic cleaning. Works like magic! I also only do 2 at a time and have them centered in the middle in the bath as best i can. Does do wonders as long if the LP isnt scratched up or groove damage.

@g.christopherlyn685Ай бұрын
Also, the ultrasonic cleaner works better the less amount of records you use..if you clean 4 records at a time with 2 spacers between them, I find that gives great results....use of a surfactant can help as well to decrease the time you need to clean.
@terrylipshetzАй бұрын
I have this unit and it’s a nice complement to the Spin Clean. As others said, no more than 3 records and space them out. I raise and lower the arm before and after to avoid getting labels wet. It comes up to temp faster when you run the cavitation. I think the vibration heats the water. Use a coffee filter at the end of the hose to filter the distilled water and you can reuse the water for a few batches.

For best results on old records brush off surface dust, pre clean on a vacuum rcm or spin clean where you actually scrub the record, run through the ultrasonic cycle. If you use a cleaning fluid, depending on what it is and how much you use, you might consider a 2nd water only cycle in the ultrasonic.

At 16:40 in the video, speaking of the water reaching the label, you might consider placing a small bowel below the spigot and drain off the excess. This will lower the water level down to the lead-out grooves.

I always used soap and water and a warm cloth been doing that since the 70's. That will get rid of fingerprints. It is a bit tricky by hand but doable one at a time. Anything that reduces surface tension will work. Isopropyl is good and will evaporate even from the cleaner tub.
@visualanimal5634Ай бұрын
Just a tip, while you're waiting for the temperature to rise, you could start the spin motor to prewash the records before starting the ultrasonic cycle. Hope you enjoy your machine.

Regarding the fingerprint issue, I thought I would share my method. I use a Spin Clean (by the way, I don't know why you think it takes an hour to do one record in the Spin Clean; with a few rotations in either direction, it only takes a couple minutes or so; I can get 25 records done in probably 1 1/2 hours), and it sometimes takes off the prints, but if prints still linger, I take a microfiber cloth (not a towel but the kind you use on glasses or camera lenses), dip it lightly in the Spin Clean water, and rub it on the print back and forth, following the grooves. Many times, this gets rid of the fingerprint but not always. As you indicated, it may have to do with how long the print has been on the record. But I do have some success with this method.
@MMID303Ай бұрын
I have thought of, but never considered one. I like my spin clean. I just started the video. Looking forward to watching it. Well it seems this would be great for someone with a very large collection. For someone with less than 100 records, a Spin Clean works fine.

Spin clean can never get an LP as clean as this can. If you take a very dirty record and run it through a spin clean and hold it to the light once it's dried you can still see its not perfect. Ultrasonic cleaner latterly removes everything and can make soiled LPs look almost brand new. And they sound far cleaner, no it can't work miracles but compared to anything else it is.

Funny that you should mention the concerns over getting record labels wet. I have found that the only labels that give problems are the orange CBS labels from the 60’s / 70’s. If they get wet the colour often runs and comes off on your hands/fingers. All others seem to survive well.

I have a Record Pro, like Spin-Clean, and I don't think it takes a lot of elbow grease. Just three spins to left and three spins to the right. I was wondering, if the inside of the tank was already rusted before you put any water in it, what is it going to be like after? The rust-colored particals after you've drained it could be rust. There is no need to add anything to the distilled water in a ultrasonic machine. Let the cavitation do the work. But If you choose to do so, you'll need to rinse what ever you added to the machine off the record (just put distilled water in your spin clean & give it a rinse) or vacuum it off with a record vacuum machine after you ultra sonic cleaning. If you don't rinse the additive it could still be in the grooves. Try it with just distilled water & you should hear a big improvement in sound.I've been using the same machine for several years with amazing results. Experiment a little & Have fun!
