It's great to have a "personal" flight instructor. Just bought my first E6B flight computer to follow along. Thank you for all your time and effort!

Hi Patrick, That's great hope this helps and thanks for watching. By the way if you are interested, X-Hanger has given me the rights to their Cessna 172N, the airplane I use in most of my videos, and have allowed me to give it away to anyone who would like to use it for following along in my videos. You can learn how to download it by watching the video in the link below: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o56yqXl4oMx4eKc Blessings, skip

@@WEHVideos Thank you very much for brining this to my attention Mr. Skip. I have to admit I switched to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 some time ago. But also in MFS the Cessna 172 (with steam gauges) is my favourite airplane to fly. This offer is perhaps a great occasion for me to relaunch X-Plane again and compare them.

Hi Patrick, I will be interested in knowing what you think after comparing the two :-) Blessings, skip

Thanks so much Eric really appreciate that and thanks for watching :-) By the way, if you didn't know and are interested, X-Hanger has given me the rights to their Cessna 172N for X Plane 11, the airplane I use in most of my videos, and have allowed me to give it away to anyone who would like to use it for following along in my videos. I learned tha value of old school navigation during a holyday in my car that was equiped with a GPS (somewhere in the 90's) That was before they showed maps. I made a nice plan with all waypoints as backup. Somewhere after 500 km in the middle of nowhere it went wrong, the GPS lost its location (mountains, lots of trees, etc no problem for a modern GPS ans some war conflict that reduced the resolution) I had a map but no clue where on the map we where. Luckily I knew how to navigate on a compass so I was able to find my location and from there follow the map. I am not a pilot but I like to do old school navigation in Xplane ( when I use VORs to see if I am still on route and for most around the airport, thy are often hard to see. If you see the airport you can already be much to close by to descent (I do not use autopilot, I handfly the whole route.) These videos are great, thank you.

Hi pa4tim sounds like a fun trip in the mountains :-) I'm definitely with you "flying" the airplane myself, I seldom use Autopilot and when using the NAV radios I just use it for reference. Glad you liked the video hope they help. HI Trackhoe075 , Really sorry about that my equipment isn't the best unfortunately :-( I hope it didn't distract you too much and you got something out of the video. Thanks for watching :-) Blessings, skip

@@WEHVideosthanks Skip I would definitely suggest investing in better equipment It didn’t look to me that you confirmed your skyvector readings to your plotter either I would think it would be very important to be able to use one to confirm the other I realize we are talking about a simulator here but accuracy in the real world is quite important

Hi Trackhoe075, This video is five years old and sectional charts are updated every 56 days so there has been lots of changes since this video was made. Skyvector always has the latest up to date charts so I would not be surprised at all if there were several differences between the chart I used and Skyvector in just a couple months after the video was made. I appreciate and understand your comment and I try my best to be accurate and not have mistakes but unfortunately I've messed up on both on more that one occasion. With that I hope you got some value from the video and it helps in some way. Thanks again for watching. Blessings, skip
