It makes me wonder if he somehow just remembers everything about every object in his workshop. There's so much stuff, it's insane! It'd be funny though if there were things that have been there so long even he doesn't remember where it came from. What if Adam, in his will, specified exactly that? His collection be displayed in some sort of museum or a dedicated museum for his collection. Portions of ticket sales could go towards different things. Maintaining the place, paying a few employees, and then everything left for putting towards scholarships or money for young folks wanting to get into Engineering, Prop work, visual effects, arts, etc... The 1958 computer part got to me.. My dad's retired Air Force and worked on the SR71 and U2, both that came out in the late 50's and did amazing things taking extremely high resolution images FAR behind enemy lines.. Could you imagine what they could do if they upgraded the SR71 to modern tech? (The U2 already has been and continues to get regular upgrades, the SR retired in 1990, though finally cutting of the funds happened in 1998. Officially the two NASA owns stopped flying in 1999 but they've unofficially been seen/heard flying numerous times since then.)

I think what he primarily likes about the whole story is, that it shows that everyone can do something like this as long as they are dedicated enough, because especially as teens what you lack in tools and money and experience you can compensate with having enough time. He once shared a story about a teen who made his own Iron Man helmet by starting with one of those paper cutout things that you glue into an actual 3D helmet made of paper and then cover the whole thing with layers and layers of plaster or bondo and painstakingly sanded it down and into shape to the point that it had a smooth surface that he could paint it. It was an insanely inefficient and time-consuming process, but it did cost him basically nothing and the result was really good.

I love Adam, and I love that he's finally showing people around his cave. Hearing him over the years talk about how he loves showing people all his things and showing us the audience is markedly different to actually watch him talk about his collection and show it to people actually in the room with him, I got a proxy high from his own excitement and Wren and Nikos too

Y'all should do "Sound Designers React!" Like: How they make sounds for things that don't even exist; How they made the T-Rex or Godzilla roar; Even the subtle ways they have to add basic clothing, movement, and walking sounds into animated films. Mythbusters was a special interest of mine as a kid. I was obsessed. I remember actually going to one of Adam and Jamie's shows and I got to meet them in person. The show was hilarious and genuinely fun to be at and meeting them was a dream come true. I remember what I was like back then in 7th grade, and I remember how much I absolutely loved science. As I went on in school, I slowly lost that spark. Science became more about writing things down, doing boring experiments, then recording everything on a graph. But Mythbusters showed me science is so much more. I'll never forget what that show, and what the people involved did for me as a shy, creative kid with ADHD. Thank you. Seriously.

Ahh, stuff like this, people like Adam Savage, and stories like these are what make me fall in love with humanity all over again. I’ve always loved the idea of CGI enhancing Practical, because man there’s so much you could do with just giving the set, the actors, and the audience that extra level of believability and love. Like when an actor can interact with their world in small ways, it feels all the more amazing. Memories of Murder illustrates this, while not full of monsters and weird sci-fi craft, the actors will grab and throw stuff sloppily, they’ll sit on objects, interact with each other and it’s one thing that makes everything feel just that more human than a lot of movies I see. One of the characters tips a table slightly, knocking over bottles and dishes a little. The way a character interacts with a cup shows how they feel either dominant, or unheard. If you wanna make a fake environment feel real, make lots of practical objects, and show the actors sloppily messing with them as if they’ve used it for years. Litter the frame with stuff, all showing the audience who your character is. If you want to make your fantasy feel real, make your character lay on an ancient monument to an elder god as they eat cooked and salted bugs and have an argument about their futures.

Adam and the Corridor Digital guys are a perfect match. I am 54 years old, and I have been a VFX artist for over 30 of those years and I feel that Adam encapsulates the fascinated child in me that wanted to know how to recreate those fantastic objects from my favorite movies, who wanted to KNOW how it was done, who appreciates the story AND the craftsmanship that went into making them. The corridor guys are the ones who embody my skills in CG and VFX using computers. They are endlessly excited, talented and researching everything out there just like I am. The common thread amongst them all is CURIOSITY. I have it in amounts that have never died down, only grown over time. They all are built of the same cloth. Curiosity is the most incredible thing to watch on screen and is simply one of the many reasons I love all these guys! Thank you for this treat and it made me feel like I was there!

It is about the stories. I recently realized that the reason I liked having antiques and other artifacts passed down to me from my parents/uncles/aunts/grandparents/etc. or that I collected during my own adventures, isn't because of any value of the items themselves, but due to the stories attached to the items. Picking up the item transports me to the time and place it was created or collected, or connects me to the person who collected it. Sharing the story associated with the item connects me, the collector, and the listener.
