The black liquid is most definitely 'bath slime'... or the same compound. It's also marketed as 'ultra slime' for the film industry. It was used as the ectoplasmic slime Venkman finds in the library in Ghostbusters. The main ingredient is HydroxyEthyl Cellulose, which has been bound to a chemical like Borax to create long molecular chains, aka slime. We use it in practical effects and creature effects to simulate body fluids. I made some for the Harry Potter movies and recently on Rings of Power.

YES CORRIDOR CREW SHOWED ONE OF MY SHOTS! I worked on roadhouse. 15:18 was one of my shots. Yes, the technique you describe was used extensively. However, some shots were more straightforward, with a simple fake punch with the 2 actors in the same take. We then had to manually warp the arm in place so that the fist would connect with the other actor's body. Regardless of the method used, it was a lot of painful, brute force cleanup and frame by frame hacks to get those shots to work.
@calvinhu82145 ай бұрын
Congratulations! I was thinking how the arms looked weird and yall having to animate the shots to match makes alot of sense. I feel the final result might not have been worth the effort. I'm reading what I'm writing, and it's probably difficult to read me as not hyperbolic or ironic, but just know I'm really feeling all that I've said. You guys single-handedly added a whole level to my cinephilia over these years. Thank you for this moment, please never stop sharing your passion and your love for discovery and creation. Sincerely, a long time silent French fan

Please let CC know they are putting their viewers in danger when they offer better help as a service. Better help is known to sell customer data that has resulted in suicides. VFX recommendation: the first few minutes of "You've Got Mail" is a CGI animatic of New York. Also has an impressive transition to a physical camera and camera move into a window

Please do react to "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.". Lots of robots, spaceships, time travel, gravitonium, Inhumans and of course more importantly Ghost Rider, Lola etc. It's got quite some stuff to get its own episode.

I know this is a joke, but I genuinely hate Bollywood and wish Corridor would stop giving it attention. It's just horrible filmmaking, full stop. Kung Fu Hustle is a perfect example of how you can make a good film that happens to be corny. Bollywood is just corny and nothing else.

I’m no vfx/cgi artist at all but I find all of this super interesting. I always go to all the accounts you mention in any episode to see and learn more and that got me thinking, maybe you could do an episode where you just show clips from other artists you like and follow? I know you’ve included other artists clips in a few episodes before but it would be super interesting to know more about where you find inspiration, who is up and coming, different studios and their specific skills if any and so on. Like just taking a look at the vfx world in general, not just what ends up in movies. I think that could be one or several nice episodes! 😊

5:05 Not just Resident Evil, you also could have shown the scene from the original Cube movie (1997) where the metal waffle looking wire thing slices the guy up in the trapped cube, or Ghost Ship (2002) where that cable famously halves the whole fish under the sea dance

Hey Sam, the liquid is probably an aqueous mixture containing a healthy amount of Polyethylene Glycols (Macrogols) or PEG/PPG block polymers (Poloxamers), giving the desired cohesion and film forming effects.

The thing about the action scenes in the Road House remake is that I do really like the technique they use in theory and I can't wait to see more directors do the same sort of thing with their films and watch how it'll be finessed and refined with each new movie. The problem is that the scenes in this particular movie really do look jank though and I believe that's all because of Doug Liman's direction. I feel like he should've stepped back and maybe locked down the camera a bit more rather than trying to be all clever with all those pans and zooms and whatnot. IMO, it would've made all of the fight scenes look actually good instead of looking like reheated Kingsman scenes.

15:30 I think Sam brings up an aspect here that then goes a bit unmentioned. Which is to say that the while the effect works impressively well for the "HITS" themselves because no one is actually fighting it does seem to come at the expense of some of the natural interplay that you would ACTUALLY get in a fight.

A Penn and Teller style "fool us" type of video series would go so hard on your channel. You've done it for UFO videos - bring that style to other kinds of videos and it would be great!

Do Netflix Atlas. The hanger scene at the beginning of the movie is surreal. They show the huge mecha dancing and dodging around workers going about their day. There was no weight to the mechs, yet in full cg scenes perfectly fine background interaction

You guys should do one for live performance effects, they're still VFX but it's not as appreciated. For example: the Light Balance & Light Balance Kids performances and how they got effects and cg elements to be in front of the performers with accurate reflections.

Suggestion for VFX AR video: music videos. The latest from a lot of artists are using a lot of cool FX. I get you may not be able to play the audio in full bc of the music rights but take a look at the following: Justin Timberlake - Selfish (mirrors without seeing them); Taylor Swift - Fortnight; Muni Long - Made For Me (where she "creates" her mate); Dua Lipa - Houdini (lots of crazy stuff in the video); Ariana Grande - Yes And; Sabrina Carpenter - Expresso... some great stuff being created in short form.
