You see in the game versus Samsora, Toast pokes at Peach's shield with Dtilt, and Samsora largely doesn't punish it. Great combo starter, kill-confirm move, and doesn't get punished by Peach, it gave Toast a huge leg up. Then you see here, Dtilt on shield is just simply not an option. Up-B comes out too fast and big for Dtilt to be anywhere near safe on G&W shield, and everytime he tries it gets punished. Not to mention Yink Up-B on shield isn't safe either. Add on G&W reflector and well, Toast just falls apart when Maister figures him out. At that point, against overwhelming experience and a bad matchup, Toast doesn't stand a chance.

Well put
@jadyazbeck60894 жыл бұрын
Actually, well spaced dtilt is safe on gnw up b, but it’s very precise. It’s one of the main reasons this matchup is even. Also arrow is a good option in this matchup since even when reflected, it most likely hit yink before it hits ground
@ViltrumiteIsRite993 жыл бұрын
Bro, Toast should’ve adapted & started grabbing all those shields & buckets. Instead of using tools that keep getting countered, counter the counter play. Grab the reflector! But aye, it happens to the best. Hindsight

@@ViltrumiteIsRite99 I agree but I think Toast was just falling back on habits and tried and true game plans. In the second game on smashville. It seemed like a little later he was starting to adapt to maister and his jumps from shield, and masters expectation of an arrow, but little by little he just reverted, and crumbled as the set went on.

@@ViltrumiteIsRite99 I'm also a young link main. It's pretty risky going for grabs considering how aerial G&W plays. When Maister started adapting to Toast's Medium Ranged Projectiles Toast should instead use Zair now that it's buffed. That would've been a great adaptation tool for an opener for his B&B Combos.

I think this tourney will again beatifully show another important part of beign a pro. PERSISTENCE and experiencing the pressure of the Top few contestants. Sure there are always some upsets. But msot of the times, the newcomers will be defeated by the typicals in the later winners rounds and the pros who lost early more often than npot persist back into the later rounds. I mean just look how fucking often Leo did it AND then won the tournament! Frostbite has a really big amount of upsets this time, still I think the majority of the top 16, or even Top 8 will be well known names

I don’t see this as toast being outclassed. Maister started playing the MU. Down b deletes yinks whole game plan. Yink is shut down at range and on top of that can’t pressure up close on g&ws shield due to safe colossal hitbox of up b. Range on basically everything favors g&w, and with super active lingering hitboxes, walling out stubby yink. 🤷♂️
@faded95814 жыл бұрын
True, but you can see that Maister, in additions to playing the mu, is anticipating Toast’s defensive options, leading to hefty punishes. He reads the roll get up, the panic jumps, the Hero Spins. Outclassed definitely fits here

Gamenwatch is a cheese character just sayin. He’s hard to approach on, his aerials are way too good, he can spam his down B with no punish so you can’t even juggle him for very long and he keeps you on the edge majority of the game.
@jeilastnamejei58314 жыл бұрын
all of those things apply to joker
@Alibaba-id1cs4 жыл бұрын
Terry Moon it clearly doesn’t. Down b totally is punishable and at times doesn’t keep you on edge every time. Joker is easy to approach since his best oos option is bair which isn’t good enough for a top tier. And thanks to the nerf juggling him is more easier now. His cheesy kills called arsene also go away too. Joker’s no cheesy character
@thelordoftheweebs95014 жыл бұрын
You can say the same for yink. Easy "combos" to rack up % from 0, no end lag on his moves, stronger than what he needs to be, projectiles.
