It's insane how Mario is Leo's weakness in Ultimate when in Smash 4 he was like, THE Mario slayer. He was 10-3 against Ally, but those 3 were the first 3 sets they played, so once Leo actually first took a set then he was effectively 10-0 against Ally. And he was 3-1 against ANTi, and that 1 was a Best of 3 at what was one of Leo's worst tournaments. Not even ZeRo who was THE best in Smash 4 could stake that claim against Mario, cause he lost 8 sets to Ally (Ally was the person who took the most sets off ZeRo in Smash 4 period) and 4 sets to ANTi meaning Mario was the character who gave him the most trouble

I think his Roy can handle Mario pretty good. He just panicked way too much last stock. Might be cause of past Mario trauma or Roy inexperience. But I believe when his Roy is fully trained he can beat every Mario with it. He just needs to believe in himself and stop doing the panic options.

Leo needs to pick up Corrin again. He evidently has some problem MUs, Mario being one of them, and Corrin does well into all of them except for like 1 or 2. Not saying it’s impossible for Leo’s other characters to win, but clearly it’s an uphill battle and it hasn’t at all gotten better with the Roy.

Obv hindsight is 20/20, and when you’re in the moment of a heated game, decision making isn’t always working great. I think Leo should’ve recognize that Snow had an extremely high percent and in that final edge guarding situation where he was guaranteed the game winning bair against Leo, Leo could’ve countered and Mario would’ve died before Roy fell to the blast zone with how high his percent was

Game 4 Leo was cooking but then it came time to finally close the last stock and he choke really hard, snow saw this and went full aggro taking the set thanks to this in the end This is really bizarre like something in Leo mind just snap and went from cooking snow to seeming like he just throwing random shit out and having a really bad disvantage play like dude at that % Roy kills you with almost anything but dude leo never truly exit disvantage once snow saw how he was brain farting so bad Still i wanna see more from his Roy is so sick and this set shows it he lost mostly because of not remaining calm

Really love how the commentators spoiled one of the sets I was planning to watch 🙃 Spoiler Warning: And yeah it seems like there are certain characters Leo seems to struggle against, Mario definitely being one of them. I also think the Byleth is not the answer, after game 1 he should of switched to Roy. Other than in pools, I don't think the character has what it takes to play at the top level. When he first started getting great results with them other players clearly didn't know the match-up and would fall for a lot of tricks that I don't see working anymore. Top players started watching the vods and learning the match-up. Hopefully he dedicates more time into the Roy/Rob/Corrin or whoever he tries to main/secondary next.
