As a Hero player, I can verify, the Fox matchup is very difficult lol. A talented Fox player can make for an extremely frantic match. You can hardly breathe.

It can get demoralizing where Fox just outframe datas you and you're stuck waiting for your turn to play. Every action you make, Fox will do his action first by everything being way faster for him. Light showed him a lot of respect but I agree the Fox matchup is really rough for Hero.

Yeah, Hero doesnt have the best frame data and his main gimmick, the command list, is hard to use if a a character like fox is rushing you down

As a Hero main who often fights a Fox main (my brother), this was the most hype set to watch! Seeing our matchup at its peak was cathardic! Thank you to both Light & BMP. You guys both killed this set. So many dope highlight kills with that finale of Light just turning it up to 11 while BMP gassed out from the pressure. I get it! Its mentally exhausting fighting a Fox on your level. ❤

not when its that close. that encounter by light could had happened at any stock on that arena too. it just happens to be last stock. its funny to me when ppl like u give so much credit to whomever wins the last stock as if the winner is some sort of god. its just 1 stock , especially when either could have won the set. u would have a point if light or any top player was indeed dominating. this is not like mk leos reverse 3-0 which is impressive because he takes 3 games in a row, by learning his opponents. ...that is top level play. this is just 1 player finding a combo that he coulda done at any point, but he got it at last stock. what if they went another round? u dont know what would happen. for all we know u could be right and light would engage on a winning streak or beast mode coulda won the next round.

@@lui1115 light clutches like this a million times, that's what makes him a top player. Bmp might do it sometimes to but not nearly as much a light, that'd the difference between light (a top player) and Bmp (a good player), consistency.

Nah, the hero player respected light too muh and was afraid to thrown in good options. Hero could have gimped fox with accelerate so many times but ibstead he remained rooted to the arena for some reason. He also had bounce but did not spam spells close-mid range and he had a lot of mp. Also he overshielded a lot even though light was above him on a platform or a little bit far away. If the hero player could correct thesr things he could've beateb light low/mid diff.

@@Yokai_Yuri sounds really easy if u explain it like that. But the thing is, light is simply the better player. If bmp would follow ur advice light would have adapted to that. Light is way better at adapting than bmp that's why he has insane tournament results. I'm not saying bmp isnt good. But hero is a character that has so much bs at his disposal, it can close huge skill gaps between players and in my opinion lights fundamentals are way better than bmp. It's just that hero has tools that can litteraly kill u at 0%.

Surprised it was charles and coney on commentary with some of the things they said, for example saying acceleratle isn't important in this matchup when air speed and ground speed are so pivotal to any character in smash. Definitely one of Hero's most important tools in any MU probably more important than oomph and psych up in most scenarios

I don't think they're wrong though. Acceleratle is great for a lot of things but against a really good Fox, you won't get much mileage out of it compared to when it's used against other characters.

@@Akubyo maybe in terms of relative use it's worse but i'm not sure. in other matchups maybe you can smother the other char instead of being neutral, and in this matchup you can be neutral instead of being smothered. isn't it still the same net utility in this way?

Oomph is really bad especially against rush down combo characters like fox, it helps him deal more damage. But if hero is already at kill percent while his opponent is at 0, then it makes sense

@@YounesLayachi An insane counterpick in some MUs. He's literally one of the worst MUs for several top/high tiers. But then he also has a handful of pretty hard MUs as well. So he's just a very swingy character. But this is why he's great with a secondary or as a secondary, which Beastmodepaul does also play sephiroth.

unironically I feel like this is a match as fox where you should either choose 2 options. Option A would be almost never looking at heroes menu and run at him as fast as possible and give him no room to breathe. Option B is never run in unless hero is in disadvantage and camp him out at mid range and force him to spam his magic in an attempt to stop your overwhelming pressure and once he's nearing out of mana then you run in and vortex him.

BMP played a good balance, you haven't seen some other hero players who truly spam menu. Against fox, hero needs all the help and fewer interactions. Without menu, fox gets free range to do whatever. Hero uses 1 or 2 high damage moves to knock his opponent out of the low % safety, then he can capitalise on knockback to get more opportunities for setting up

BMP hit Light with 4 moves and no buffs and Light was at kill percent…. Insane that he got accelerate as often as he did. I feel like that was the only reason Light was in danger of losing

I actually think Light got off easy. Hero didn't get "Oomph" nearly as many times as he normally does. Fox would be in KO percent after 3 hits with that. Also a few more Up-Bs out of shield and this may have looked different

The buffs are way more common than the other moves. Im not FULLY sure if that applies to accelerate as well, but im pretty sure it does. It just has a higher spawn rate in the menu. It also helps when you already have the other buffs too, as then they can no longer appear in the menu as well, so as you're cycling through, you're more likely to see the stuff you want.

All these comments talking about “MU” this and “MU” that. Bruh Fox is combo food no matter what character he’s up against. I get the “choose to win” meme but it’s really not as easy as it looks. Congrats to Light closing that game out. Hero can be a pain because he kills you in 4-5 hits per stock

Well, Hero wasnt really comboing fox. Its just that he hits hard as hell so fox dies super early. But the thing is, Fox still is an insanely good character. Yea, it can be hard when you die in 4-5 hits, but the point is that fox is so insanely fast that its really hard to beat him in neutral. The character has extremely low endlag, is super safe on shield, and has high mobility, so he can just kinda hit buttons in close range, and not many characters can deal with it at all. You pretty much have to hit fox before he gets into that range or you'll end up in the fox blender and just take a ton of damage. I just really dont see a way that hero actually beats or even goes even against fox. His moves are just too slow, and fox is so fast that getting time to read menu is really hard. Match up unfamiliarity helped paul a lot here, but if Light was comfortable in this MU, it probably would not have been this close.
