I main Link and one thing I always do is pick up tech h from other players whether it's competitive or content creators. That's the only way you can fully master a character. i s2g every time leo drops a set people lose their minds about how he's washed up yet he's still getting better results than anyone else face it. This wasn't MKLeo being washed. This was MKLeo playing formidably on one of at least three or four different characters he's developed to a tournament level and Big D, who is a TOP PLAYER, putting lessons to the test from his schooling by Shuton a year ago at the last GOML. Big D has been taking sets off Onin, Light, Tweak, and many other people, and he had close sets vs many other top players. He's no younger than MKLeo and still continuing to improve. So miss me with that. Don't say Leo Bad. Say LET'S GO BIG D!!

Leo is the way he is because he smokes 🌲 trust awareness and your eye movement is everything in this game. When he was on top he was making money. He made so much money he took care of his family and started buying smoke. He started going downhill when he used marth at that tournament against riddles and he was high Leo prioritize tree more now

I love icies... Big D is epic with them. The slingshot up B is highly under-utilized as a combo finishing move - sends characters into the stratosphere but is risky. Fun to land tho! MkLeo is still my favourite player out there. Much love from Canada!

I think most people already know how good the ices are. They are just really hard and complicated to play. I tried playing them and I struggle to get back to stage. I don't know how Big D does it

Yes, desyncs are tough, but you can get by with bread-and-butter combos that are easy to perform and stack on 60% Recovering just requires a good feel for how the move works and how 2nd Climber behaves. The vast majority of Icies gimps were preventable if the player had payed closer attention.

@@mxtoastytoad if you really think icies aren't hard to play or that you can "get by" in tournaments without desync you're coping so hard. If you can't perform your desyncs reliably when the time comes opponents won't need to respect your gimmick. You're playing a character that isn't only mechanically difficult, but also has its own personal foil you're constantly battling with your opponent against. Icies are both very hard to play and very hard to play against. Just because Big D is ABLE to take stocks on this character against foes who don't give him opportunities to desync doesn't mean he can get by without them. It's his opponents' respect for the threat of those desyncs that opens them up to icies' bread and butter combos. and you're basically saying that managing nana isn't hard because it's possible to learn how to do it. That doesn't mean it's easy... you can come in and see the result of years of labbing and character mastery without having any clue at all what that looked like. If icies wasn't hard to play, it wouldn't have taken this long for icies mains to reach their tournament potential with the character in ultimate. Go ahead and try picking the character up at a tournament level and see how far you get.

@@ditch_magnet What are you playing at? You think I'm some salty Ice Climers victim with a skill issue? I main them and get top 8 pretty consistently. I'm not very good at the game, getting 60% by just pushing buttons was a big part of that. Icies aren't the best in the game but they CHEAT sometimes. Desyncing is useful of course, but at low-to-high levels it's practically optional. If you think they're nothing without desyncs, perhaps you should try playing against them.

You're taking sets off people who may not even know how to DI or edge-guard, so naturally character mastery is going to take a backseat to fundamentals and while i wasn't there to view them, I suspect your wins had a lot more to do with that. You can stomp mediocre players with ryu or kazuya without ever using a special input or knowing how to do anything especially fancy with them, as long as you have basic fundamentals and SOME kind of game plan involving a kill confirm. The stuff you're saying is applicable to ANY character in the game. You can stumble your way into a top 8 at a tiny local tournament. You can destroy that tournament with something like K Rool and argue that K Rool isn't actually unviable at a high level. Sooner or later you'll run in to people who've actually developed their play to a PGR relevant level, who can actually punish your character's weaknesses and mashing buttons won't be enough to win anymore.
