excellent video! in the process of trying to repair two “black screen” SNES games with my dad, neither one of us have any soldering experience so we’re nervous, after watching your video though, i know we can do it!

I know, I didn’t even know it was worth much I figured it to be a $10-15 game. Turns out it’s a higher end title, perhaps it’s the Taito touch most Taito games have.

What a coincidence. I’m glad you got it working, it’s super satisfying finding something that’s worth money (that you otherwise wouldn’t spend) for cheap in a broken state. I bought uncharted waters and L’empereur for nes not working for really cheap, I thought it would make for a good video turns out they work... I would never buy those games for full price cuz I probably will never play them.

How does a trace crack when it's still inside the cart case and there is no visible sign of exterior damage to the PCB? Is this a case of the trace literally just burning out inside the PCB itself?
@boomkablamo4 күн бұрын
This is just me speculating but I'd imagine over time any minor flexing of the PCB from changes in temperature, humidity, etc could potentially be enough to create a hairline fracture in the trace. Could be exacerbated by factory defects as well.

My multimeter doesnt mske noise, what setting should I keep it on? 2V? What should I be looking for on my multimeter
@PunkNDisorderlyGamer2 ай бұрын
@@MANGOSO_ continuity is measured in resistance, usually the Omega symbol. Some really cheap multimeters won’t beep so you have to see if you have continuity based on 0 ohms resistance. If you are in 2v that’s to measure voltage and 2v is your maximum so if you’re trying to measure 5v you will have to move your meter to 20v to increase your range. Hope this helps, if you’re interested in electronics repair try to get yourself a better multimeter it’s really worth it.
