VH-TQK Jetstar Regional Dash 8 Q300 Startup

Hello everyone and welcome to a video recorded from my phone at Hawkes Bay Airport. Hope the video turns out well because it was raining and windy when I filmed this. Comments are always welcomed here and I do my best to reply back asap

unfortunately jetstar are cancelling their New Zealand regional routes at the end of November 2019

The box fan noise from turboprops used to scare the shit out of me when I flew on EMB-120 Brasílias when I was little, now I find it quite satisfying

Boeing 747 with the Boeing 767 close behind. With Regional aircraft in New Zealand I would say the B1900D followed by Q300s

I would let turbines spool up first. then release the clutch

????? Planes don't have a clutch

NZAviation yes they do. in the turbo prop. if there is no ground power. they will leave turbine running but prop will stop spining. using a clutch. and when they land turbo props have reverse thrust to. the pitch of the blades turn 180 degrees to push air foward. for someone with a channel full of aircraft videos. you dont know alot

Actually, you're the misinformed one. The only aircraft that remotely has what you're describing is the ATR72. The ATR has a prop break because it doesn't have an APU which means the turbine is still spinning but the prop is not to allow safe boarding etc. The Q300 in this video does not. It has an APU so can provide it's own power to start and does not require the prop break. and FYI, it does have the GPU connected.

turbo props DONT have an apu they use the turbine. i have my piolets licence. this was in the training course.
