What an embarrassment, you Brits do vintage hot rods much better than the US. Brilliant cars!

Thank you for the fabulous video , Nick . Are all these incredible creations home-grown ? I'd no idea so many traditional racers and hot rods existed . That '39/'40 Fastback captures the spirit perfectly . I can see that in a Bonneville 'home-movie' from the '40'/'50s . Kudos to the builders .

It would have been far more interesting if they showed a time sheet or speeds for the runs. The video gives no idea of how fast any of them were.

Thanks for showing this, Nick. I was there in the 33 coupe, No. 47. You did great considering it was all from outside the fence. I just put my Pendine vid up too. Mart.

I had finished watching a US dirt drags and the cars would best be described as rough. Then this vid popped up automatically. I have a great respect for the talent in the UK who can rework ancient metal into some thing really nice .My favourite was the paxton Blown flattie .Lots of effort had gone into that. And the 39' Deluxe Coupe #214,being RHD, would that be Ex New Zealand?

Could be from Aus or South Africa as well.
@VintageLifeCars3 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure that particular car was from South Africa. RHD cars were also assembled at Dagenham, England, from kits sent from Canada. A friend of mine has a RHD '38 Sedan, been in Britain from new. Foreign cars were subjected to high import duty, so an American car would be very expensive, but Canadian cars were exempt being a British Empire/Commonwealth country. Just an exploited loop-hole.

Not sure, but I think I saw some of the cars in Dunedin when we were there for honeymoon. Anyways nice cars! Greetings from Germany!
