What I've done in the past, if the break is near the very beginning or very end, is actually splice the tape to the clear plastic leader rather than to the reel itself. That way, the auto-stop system still works and the machine will probably stop the tape itself before the splice gets to the video head.

been doing this for years, for me, I would use a narrower piece of scotch tape and not take a chance on any excess nor messing with the width of the actual tape. touching the tape with fingers also destroys more footage. many alternatives to attaching the two ends.

Do you know if there's a way to view images of an unknown (not previously labeled) VHS tape where the insides HAVE fallen out? I have a tape from storage that has it's insides fallen out. Idk if I want to even bother keeping it because it could be a blank one. I just want to see if there's a way to detect the images from the film somehow to tell if it's worth trying to get repaired.

I made a table that have a perfect align the 2 parts of tape. I join till 2 parts with any cut and any lost part of video. Of course show video noise but the mono sound no lost. Check the playlist "VHS, S-VHS, D-VHS Memory Rescue".

Everything proven you can cut off all the black tape itself on the right side of the tape itself when it's all White on the right side of the tape itself now put Scotch tape on the right side of the table itself and put the black part on the left side together

hi to all after you have digi the files never ever move data to a phone is the if the ohone who it is dieds you can lose all the data on the phone i have a mate that died from something very unluck and HD are bad as well my old mate last 2gb of files down to bad drives i did say i can bad up the data with one of my data tapes drives the best way is to have same model drives and back same data on each drive and keep data in many place this doe's work very well funny thing i am finding betacam sp decks are tanks i have alot of them still working with bro i can turn pic's in to video and tape can last new one 30 years
