On the open matte versions, you can see a moving line at the top of the screen for a couple of frames after the V first appears. I'll bet it was the edge of the cel that had the V on it. They must have animated the "zoom" of the V by changing the depth of the animation stand. That edge wouldn't appear on TV since it's outside the safe area, so they didn't worry about it.
@TheVintageTVArchive5 жыл бұрын
At the 3:20 mark, when Viacom slightly tweaked the design of their logo, that line at the top was eliminated completely, so they did something different in terms of animating the logo itself.
@ZakWolf3 жыл бұрын
Interesting; I thought maybe it was the edge of the chromakey screen the "V" was placed on and the camera zoomed up to.

It looks like there were two different takes on the filmed "V of Doom" logo. Starting at 3:20, the starting position of the "V" is a bit different, and you don't see the edge of the greenscreen on top when it starts zooming, and it doesn't show the "V" stopping right before cutting to black.
@wigwagstudios2474 Жыл бұрын
not only that, but the zooming of the V seems more linear compared to others where it feels more exponential.
@Mochrie995 жыл бұрын
That really dark V of Doom is particularly unnerving, it's almost invisible due to how dark the print is.
@Mochrie995 жыл бұрын
Another thing that amazes me is that nearly every single filmed version of the V of Doom I've seen (on KZbin at least) looks pretty scratched to hell. Not a single pristine print to be found anywhere. That's why I find this logo so creepy, the fact that they are almost always imperfect prints.

Actually, that is silent. On the original posting of that particular logo, I asked him if there was any printed audio. He said there was only a straight line -- meaning completely silent. So that isn't deteriorated/damaged audio, that is how it was printed.

it's very weird that the films are very low quality and are decaying. where do your films come from?
@Luke2505TV5 жыл бұрын
It's natural for these films to decay over time. It's not mistreatment by TVTA or poor transferring, but natural decay of these films from stuff like long periods in storage, mistreatment/binning from stations that once used these prints, etc
there was simply no audio for that one. The audio wave on the tape was a flat line on the V of Doom segment, so apparently there wasn’t meant to be audio at the end or something.
