My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. kzbin.infoUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

I’m not an expert by any means, but I have been kayaking many many times, especially in the ocean. I find that when you’re fighting the wind and/or current, it helps to widen your grip on the paddle. You can really drive it through the water better when you engage your shoulders a little more. I couldn’t see your hands clearly, but at times your grip seemed a little narrow. Maybe I’m wrong, like I said I couldn’t clearly see. Anyway, next time you’re fighting the current give it a try. Congrats on the new gear buddy!

A few suggestions for you about kayaking. Your paddle is upside down. You should be able to read the label on the paddle (Label facing you and rightside up). When you're entering the kayak, be sure the keel is not touching the bottom . The kayak is much more stable when it's floating, then when it's touching bottom. Another tip is to walk the kayak out in the water a foot or so deep, and sit on it like you're sitting down on a sofa. Sit your butt on the seat sideways, and slowly rotate one leg into the kayak at a time.

That's why I researched my kayak for over a year. My 1st and last kayak. I see no reason to upgrade.Especially as the accessories add up quick. I purchased the HOODOO TEMPEST HYBIRD 120PDL. $899.00, And came factory with 9 scupper plugs, 2 anchor trolleys, removable center console, for PDL or T.M. Paddle, framed seat, toe control drop down rudder, gear tracks, deck padding, battery box. They make there own 46lb thrust trolling motor, where the PDL would sit. So I did go with the trolling motor and just recieved my bixpy J2, With the vibe gravity rudder. I'll use one or the other, but both will be on board. They make a kayak for everyone's budget. I wanted the accessories we all need, so me at 5ft 7" 151 lbs. My kayak feels like a little bass boat, I setup for my fishing. Goid luck, if you're looking, or already on the water. 🤟🎣🙏

I had a pelican castaway 116 kayak back when kayak fishing started getting big. Pelican just took a recreational hull, made it a sit on top, and added fishing rod holders and called it a fishing kayak. It was the most unstable kayak I had ever used. I built outriggers from 8ft oak staves and 4" pool noodles. It was the only way to keep it upright. Trust me, I weighed close to the same weight you did when you first tried it out. Its one of the worst hull designs for stability. There just isn't enough secondary stability for anyone of any weight to fish out of.

Congrats on your Shearwater! I've been looking at getting one for about six months now. I haven't been in a yak in about 25 years, and I've never been in a sit on top. I'm much bigger now than I was in my 20s. I wasn't sure I would still be able to handle a kayak, but seeing how stable it was for you makes me think I'm going to be out some money soon!:-) Thank you for the review!

Hey bro, you will love that boat. It's meant for bigger guys. This is my 1st season off the bank. I researched for a year, and did want the jonny bass 100. I'm 5ft 7 150 lbs. I went with the hoodoo tempest Hybrid 120. The hull is actually designed similar to the vibe seaghost and shearwater. I have the fitted trolling motor, which is 46lb thrust and only weighs 20lbs. Drops in right where my PDL goes. I fish a 1600 acre lake I can now explore. I can stand on my bow, in the tank well, and walk my deck. Definitely invest in the PDL Drive, and the bow mounted trolling motor. You're going to love it. It's one of the best kayaks built. Be safe my friend. 🎣🙏🤟

Great video, I just found your channel and subscribed. I too just got my first kayak and freakin love it, to heck with bank fishing. Lol! I’m a bigger guy as well at 6’2” 375, so I know the struggles on the water 😉. Kayaks respond a lot differently to big guys compared to “average size” guys. Just take your time and get familiar with your boat, there’s no rush to standing up or whatever. I’ve had my kayak for about a month and just recently stood up in it for a few minutes. I still get nervous because last year I turtled a canoe in a marsh with alligators, lots of mental scars 😳. I just wanted to share the easiest way I have found to get in my kayak. With the boat parallel to the bank, if it’s facing left I hold the stand assist strap in my left hand and step in with my left foot first where it would be if I was sitting down. My weight is now causing the kayak to lightly make contact with the ground which gives some stability. I then step across with my right foot where it will be when sitting down and then slowly lower myself down into my seat. This has been the most “graceful” method for me getting into my kayak, hope it helps. 🙂

Props to you, brother! First for trying to kayak again after that negative first experience; also for your honesty and for not editing out the embarrassing parts. I'm a total nube, a big guy and not very comfortable being on the water by nature. I kayak'd once from right below Hoover Dam 12 miles to Willow Beach. It hit 117F on us with wind coming up the deep canyon that was strong enough to push us backwards upstream. We were on a time limit and I almost didn't make it. I was extremely dehydrated with bad muscle cramps and a pounding headache by the end. So I had a different kind of bad first experience. We moved from Vegas to Ohio, with water everywhere and now the girlfriend wants a kayak. Thinking this might scratch a few itches I have as well, at least until I get a fish and ski boat hah. (miss our off-road toys). So do you still have the kayak? like it?

The only thing keeping me from upgrading to this yak is I really wish they would of kept the front storage hatch that the Seaghost 130 has. I love that hatch I store so much stuff in it year-round like my Hammock and my tarp, bug spray Sunscreen, dry bag with extra clothes, and a bunch of other stuff. As for standing up it just takes practice like you said. Eventually you will be super comfortable standing.

Nice kayak just a few pointers for you. Always get a feel for your kayak before going fishing in it. Meaning take it out on a paddle trip learn where the rockers catch get your seat and pedals set up proper. And yes stand up in it learn what you not the kayak but you can do in it. Learn your boundaries that kayak is meant to stand up in with ease and you can you just need some time doing it. Also not really sure but your paddle looked a little on the short side i think that kayak is like 34 inches or more wide. Plus your seating is up pretty high of the water so some where in the range of 240m or 260m be nice if there was a shop near where you could test them to see. Someone said a wider grip on your paddle that isn't always true everyone is made different so grip stance will very some. The closer to the side of the kayak you can make your paddle stroke the straighter your kayak will run and more efficient your stroke will be. There is plenty of videos on this to show you what im saying. Last you always want your paddle laying in your lap for quick adjustments. Once you land a fish or need to address tackle changes just throw one end of your paddle in the paddle keep in the front of your kayak. Hope you have a blast out of that ride it is a nice one.

And the new model of the Jackson kayak big rig it’s 13 feet long and 40 inches wide so it’s wider and more stable good luck 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Gratz on losing 70 pounds! We're about the same now so I appreciate the review. This one is on my short list. How you liking it? When entering i don't step. I sit down on the ground and cross-brace with the paddle on the yak and the ground then slide into the chair. Give it a try! I'd recommend getting some kayak classes and upgrading that paddle when you decide you're getting into the sport.

Thanks for checking out the video and the tips! I’m liking it but today I noticed there is water in the hull from the last time I took it out. Apparently that is a problem with this kayak. I emailed Vibe about it so hopefully they have a fix for it

Congrats!!! On the weight losses! What’s your trick? I’ve turned my life around and eating clean but no weight loss?? I want to fish again and a kayak looks like a triple bonus, fishing as well as work out for fun ... legs and arms! More power to you!!

Intermittent fasting helped a lot. I eat between noon and 8 pm only. Meal at noon, meal at about 7 and then protein only snacks during the day. I like beef jerky. I workout five days a week, three days weights and moderate cardio and two days doing HIIT training on the elliptical. Good luck man and I hope this helps!

Hello Bashin Bass how you doing. I first would like to say you congratulations on your weight loss. I know that means alot to you. And second congratulations to you on your new kayak and welcome to the kayak family. This was a very very good video you did. I'm proud to see you go back out to win that challenge. The clip was funny about your old kayak. I did feel bad cuz something could have went wrong with you being by yourself it could spell disaster. But you didn't give up buddy and I'm happy for you. Your review was awesome. I like your kayak. I need to upgrade my kayak to this one. I am a big guy myself. Am 6'2 358 sz14 5 EEEEE with fat wide toe. Thank you for taking us on the water with you for your first time. I was able to see how the kayak handle. I have a question if you don't mind me asking? I saw you was kayaking in your flip-flops and it look like you have wide feet as well. I was wondering what's your size and how wide are they. My reason for asking is my kayak the foot brace a real small and my feet will not stay on the footrest because my foot is so wide. As you know Us big guys we need the footrest for that support. It's very challenging for me because I can't use the footrest. I was seeing your foot we're staying on the footrest with no problem so this is why I was asking. Maybe your kayak has longer footrest I guess or maybe it's my wide foot needs to be shrunken I don't know. But I would really appreciate it if you could let me know about that sir. I kayak barefooted 👣 cuz flip flops is the only Footwear that I can wear . They do not make shoes wide enough to fit my foot so I know Footwear is not my issue maybe I need to do a DIY. I just found your Channel and it was a good video you did. I would definitely join your channel to help and support your Channel. Looking forward to your next Kayak Adventure thank you for sharing your video with us.

I wear 12 EEE shoes. I need the widest kind they make. This kayak I got now has a seat that slides back and makes things pretty easy for us big guys. They really wanted this one big boy approved and it is!

Bashin Bass TV oh okay size 12 EEE brother you are so lucky. Man I wish my foot was a size 12 or 13 at least. I wish my foot was a 3 EEE wide and not 5 EEEEE wide as well. So it sounds like my foot it's just way too wide for the footrest and it's easier for your foot to stay on the footrest. Thank you so much sir for that information this really helps me out. I'm going to have to upgrade to this kayak. I take it helps a lot with that seat slides. Love it that it's Big Boy friendly to. I really appreciate you replying back to me thank you so much. You take it easy buddy and I look forward to your next video.
