Fun fact: in old Nordic myth and culture there's this thing called a Flyting, and in essence - it was a lyrical/verbal standoff, often without beat, observed by a crowd of onlookers. Vikings had rap battles
Ай бұрын
Well, it's one way to handle conflits. And probably much older and universal than we realize. Also vikings were essentially pirates, so, sea bandits, so it makes even more sense somehow. Some medieval tavern songs from the feudal era were unironically G stuff, as well. You can find some exemples on youtube.

"Flyting" is the original hip-hop and has been around since at least the 1500's, but probably much longer. Germany, Scandinavia, and Scotland practiced it famously. A common format would be two rivals, complete with posse, who would take turns insulting each other and boosting themselves up with rhyming verse sung for the crowd.

I wanna come! You know what costume would be lit? Arriving in full hoop skirt with the high collar up to your chin edged with lace, shades of Marie Antoinette. After a couple of drinks and getting tired of that hoop steppin all over ya swag, remove the outer layer and present a slammin mixture of old and new.. Victorian minx, if you will. A whalebone corset dressed up with black lace. LOL, I just erased a hella long description. Y'all get the idea. So when and where's the party luv? LOL Seriously though, it sounds like a good time.
