I enjoy your videos very much. I notice that quinacridone violet vibrancy varies greatly between brands as you know. The Holbein brand is quite bright like opera but lightfast and sometimes I use quinacridone magenta from Daniel Smith to have those darker areas with the Sennelier Rose Madder Lake which doesn’t dull down like Daniel Smith even though it is the same PV19 “quin rose” type and of course quin coral from DS is great but I also compared it side by side to DaVinci’s today and have to say that I was very surprised. I am unable to make copies of my work but would like to because many people enjoy buying them. The Sennelier really surprised me because of not dulling down like DS and sometimes spiking other pigments works to get what we need. Thank you for your wonderful videos. Your painting is gorgeous!😊

Do you ever teach your folk art? I would love to learn how you do this. Unfortunately, we Americans don't have this kind of folk art as a legacy in this culture, so I would be happy to learn about the folk art from your culture and how it can be adapted for today's painting. Thank you.

This is exactly the video I've been searching for! I've seen your work previously on pinterest and absolutely fell in love with the gouache holiday collection, so I was very excited finding your videos. I worked with coloured inks previously, always happy about the intensity, but the watercolours have always greatly interested me. After started working with them, I noticed that even the brightest colours don't look as bright as I hoped them to be, so your tips sound very helpful, I'll definitely try them out! I bought cotton paper recently and it's always surprising seeing how much colour intensity the paper "soaks in" after a day and how much paler the drawing becomes.

Does the Aquazol binder work better with Synthetic Ox Gall compared to Gum Arabic in your opinion? I know I've brought this up before, but in my experience, Synthetic Ox Gall can make even dry watercolor paint lift and move from the paper. This can be a problem at times, especially since it can increase the risk of overworking. Maybe it's a matter of just getting used to it, but I figured I'd ask in case there's a way to use the Synthetic Ox Gall for better flow but not at the cost of lifting.

@AnnaBucciarelli Жыл бұрын
Quinacridone Magenta on its own, or mixed / layered with Quinacridone Red is the closest - but the results are not fluorescent, more muted. You can see in the sweet pea video what that looks like - pretty vibrant but of course not as over the top as Opera 😊 thank you!

Wonderful video. Can you please clarify.....you mention that Quin.Violet is cool, but Daniel Smith indicates is is warm ?!?!?. Im trying to learn about cool and warm, so Im a bit confused. Thank you. Or is it different between brands ?. Yesterday I purchased the DS brand as my art shop in Australia doesnt have the brand you used.
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
DS is amazing - one of my favs and you will love them. There is another video where I break down the color theory but essentially it’s all relative - meaning it depends on the colors around the color in question. Violet will look warm compared to blue , but will act as a cool color next to a warm red. So DS will call it warm, as it’s the warmer among their violets. But placed in context - next to a warmer color it will act as cool. I hope this makes sense 😊 Thank you!
@lindyhawthorne21643 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Anna.. I will try to make sense of all that.. ha ha. Im a newbie of a few months....so it's all verrry confusing to me. I would absolutely love to be able to paint like you. I saw your hydrangeas the other day and nearly passed out from love !!!!!!

Great tips as always! So I was wondering - lots of people say that using paint straight from the tubes is the best for color vibrancy. I pour my watercolors into pans - mostly because I have limited working space and a box with pans keeps everything compact, and somehow I enjoy the process too hah. I know you always paint straight from the tube, but If squeezed out too much then the paint will dry anyway until the next painting, isn't it? So is it really that much of a difference? I personally can't see it, especially with botanicals when I paint with thin layers. I can only understand the difference when painting a landscape and rewetting pans takes too much water and I need the paint to be more concentrated.

Gorgeous paintings! And great tips!!!!!! I’m having a hard time figuring out good greens to mix for pretty foliage. Can you do a video on this? I’m in awe on your second painting you showed-actually in awe on everything about it from foliage, to flower to bird. Thanks.
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Danielle! 💖💖💖 This is a great question but a very loaded question :) I must say I am a bit hesitant to do a "green" video because I am afraid I will receive some push back from "traditional" watercolor artists....basically, green straight from the tube never works for truly realistic watercolor - that's a fact. Generally it's best to mix it with reds and blues etc to mute and create more realistic effects. I tend to treat my greenery as a "supporting" actor and often paint with pure green pigments, without mixing, often adding phthalo turquoise etc for extra vibrancy, which creates a less realistic more decorative result (completely a stylistic preference but not a traditional approach). I will give it some thought as I am trying to figure out a good balance between giving helpful watercolor advice while staying true to my style... Sorry If I am overthinking this:) I get a little OCD about my videos and often skip a week, because I obsess about details. I want to provide value and useful tips but also am conscious about how much of my personal style and preferences come through. I promise I will do a full video dedicated to greens - I just need to find a good reference photo and suummarize my thoughts with balance from traditional theory. Thank you SO MUCH for your support!!! 💖

Can you recommend 2 or 3 pink watercolors to create this painting? I can’t afford all the ones you put the link but need to start to paint in pink 💖 i own warm and cool violets and blues, just missing the pinks
@AnnaBucciarelli3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paula! I would go with Quinacridone Magenta and Opera Pink as my top 2 choices :)
@gillinacook14773 жыл бұрын
Just a thought - if you use Opera pink ( very low lightfast) but glaze over the top with a few layers of lightfast colour, would the pink be safe from fading? Have you tried Mission Gold watercolour. They are very vibrant.
@maura63352 жыл бұрын
The opera pink would still fade, adding paint on top unfortunately does not protect the pigment from light.
@mydogeatspuke2 жыл бұрын
@@maura6335 the fading that you see with opera pink is caused by the additional flourescent dye added to the paint, not any pigment. It's otherwise just PR122 which is a quin pigment that is quite potent alone.
