amzn.to/3kPDMnt - Tac9er Trekking Poles
Atypical Hiker (Kevin) and myself did an overnighter on the Pine Mountain Trail at Dead Pine Campsite. The weather was scheduled to dip to 28°F and that's cold for this part of Georgia. Both of us were prepared for that kind of temperature. We survived the night and happy it didn't rain. I had one of Metro on the Move's (Andy) Zpacks carbon fiber trekking poles. I did a short review about trekking poles that vibrate. It seems like all trekking poles vibrate to some degree but it was more noticeable with Zpacks. Hope this review was helpful. I had a wonderful overnighter as usual with an awesome friend.

Most hikers stick with what works for them. My trustee black diamond are mine. I just wanted to demonstrate at that severe angle they would vibrate too. My go to are the Tac9ers due to them being lighter.

When I saw the title, I was a little scared to watch... But it did not end up being a kinky hiker-fetish video after all! 😆 I prefer aluminum poles, even though they're heavier. They've always felt sturdier to me. I like my Foxelli poles; inexpensive, colorful, and sturdy enough for me to not break after a year of use. I'm looking at getting a pair for FatBear too. Great trip you guys had! Kevin may be onto something about the CCC. We have tons of ruins here in my area from the CCC times. I've actually eaten at the Monticello subway! 🤣 No Name parking lot. 👍👍

Never been a fan of carbon fiber. I have buddies that have carbon fiber bikes and it just seems like a bad idea. When they fail they fail big time and suddenly. Not like aluminum or steel which will give some warning signs (cracks or dents).

Well now I'm disappointed that there is no such thing as cuben fiber trekking poles! 😁 Have had the vibration thing happen also. More with those Cascade Mountain Tech ones than any other brand. It's like hitting a baseball with an aluminum bat. Good on you and Kevin getting out there in every season!.
@SeniorHiker77
@SeniorHiker77 Жыл бұрын
Thanks goodness Kevin corrected me about carbon fiber trekking poles. Lol. Just by chance I ended up with my Tac9ers and then they became my go too. My Mountain Tech were only used 1 time when I needed to fold them up. Most of my poles are locked in the extended position. When I hiked Cumberland Island I needed foldable poles. That island is flat but needed them for my tent. That's the only place I don't need to hike with poles.

Didn't know about that pocket for the lighter. That was cool! Don't know how it would look as a hat. Subway is great, but Publix might have my business moving forward. These poles do really vibrate when then strike the ground. When I used them for the ATC last year, I also broke the tips off one of them. Now, these can be used as a fancy tarp holder.

Wow that vibration thing is weird … must be some sort of resonance when it’s extended 🤔…. I switched from Black diamond to Trekology Z last year after I accidentally ran over one of my black diamonds in the dark😢 … anyhoo, like the Tac9er poles they fold in three pieces with one cam lock adjuster …although a bit heavier they are a fantastic pole for the money … my new go to as well 😄 nice to see you guys getting out and about ATB Dave Mc
