As I grow older and i continue listening to music, both old and new, I become more and more convinced that Vic just might be the best songwriter that I have ever heard.

Wil Oldham, bill Callahan, Jason Molina RIP, but yes vic is a Mt Rushmore dude 👍🏼

@@deff3060 I'd place him even higher than that. He should have been up there with Dylan, Waits, Springsteen, Cohen.

I booked Vic In Myrtle Beach in the early nineties. He played this albums show in the live venue at Club Zero. Afterwards we had a rave dance club and he would go out and spin around with the strippers and dance and get crazy. It was so much fun. He was a blast. He wasn't always so sad. We hung out at the beach late nite playing guitar ,cheesy covers for the girls, yes even Bon Jovi, and just chill out and have fun. Those we the good days. Wish he could have remembered a little of those times.

A thousand musicians have a night but few have a career and agreed, he has a way with delicate destruction and can rip my soul out with his candor and sincere lyrics. Tears are always a part of love and he brings me both. I love reading your words as I know some nights weren't a painful abyss 👍🏼

For me, the greatest lyricist of his time. Strange to miss so badly a person I never met

He sparked a joint with me at his break in this show at the East Brunswick, and he offered. We talked.

TS Eliot said April is the cruelest month. I think it’s December. I miss Vic. Cantankerous poet.

A lost souls journeyman who's managed to break and heal my heart in a song. Fucking magic bro!

I agree, December sucks. April is full of promise even when I realize the world will soon be carrying on without me.

Yeah. First heard Vic when a bass player songwriter friend gave me West of Rome on a cassette. Played it hundreds of times. Over the years I've thought so fondly of his songs, and nowadays I'm totally in a phase of loving his work so much I just can't say. Oh, Vic; we so wish, we so feel your presence and your departure.

One day ALL will know Vic, as one so much deeper then Dylan. Pain brings out the true arts, Vic carried enough for the whole state. I guess it was more then any one but you could carry, miss you Vic. Please donate to Vic's estate, he passed sadly in debt as most great artists in history...

One of my all-time favorite songs. His music touches me like few others. I once got to meet him on the sidewalk outside a gig, and I was giddy as a kid.

I too met Vic outside of Spaceland. We were born within three miles of each other... He was not into the collegial bond, but his music moves me....

Where were you two years ago when I was locked out there at the barn When some certain Athens sacred monster was doing me in the charm We could've been chatting heart to heart on that front porch with a view Where were you girl when I needed you Where were you two weeks ago, a week again after your promise I was in your place of employment crying in my humus Somebody in there said "boy you're looking bad" And I said "you know that is nothing new" Where were you girl when I needed you Were you in that second story well lighted place Up against it's occupant artist in his personal space I know that has been known to happen but I though all of that was through Where were you girl when I needed you Where were you last Monday when I was overwrought I was watching the bright bug lamp flicker You were doing up the dim dim 40-watt I was alone with Pepe Lopez I just couldn't do the schmooze Where were you girl when I needed you Where are you this Sunday morning I'm in shaky health I am in the back yard leaking on the spot where you proclaimed yourself You are hungry wanting breakfast and my heart is in a stew Where were you girl when I needed you
