I liked the mtp Fr aircrew smock with a hunters pocket at the back but couldn't get it in Dpm so settled for mtp and decided to line it in Dpm, which has worked out pretty well pocketswise lol.

Missed the plan/build of the smock - but seen the 'finishing touches' vid. What size is it? 112 or 120 around at a guess? It'd be interesting to see the finished smock and all the modifications n pockets - also noticed a piece of scrim peeking from the rolled hood too, fixed onto it?

I deleted a lot of content sadly but there wasn't/isn't much to the smock project really. 190/104 Mtp base, removed sleeves. I cut one large section of dpm for the lower half and stitched to as one large pocket then sectioned it to give three 'pockets', another similarly affixed for the mid-upper back to give two pockets and the same for the front panels, these are all accessed from the top but I did put a zip in the leftside as I had one laying around. Sleeves and shoulderholes got a paracord tabline stitched to them, overlap on sleeves ensures a better seal, shorter sleeves as a result but still ventable. There are a few uses for the sleeves including water filtration, forage bag and leg gaiters. I then replaced the lower panel with salvaged rocket pouches. I haven't lined the sleeves or hood yet but plan to. The rolled hood contains a scrimscarf and bandana and the scarf itself has mozzie net sewn to cover half of its area, again waterfiltering as well as normal uses such as head/shoulder camo base and insect protection. I'll try and get a runthrough done for you all sooner rather than later. 🤘

@@OldNavajoTricks Really good out-of-the-box thinking! Thanks for sharing this idea, it has me now pondering if I could do similar! But finding size 190/120 is like hunting for rocking-horse s*!t so this 112 would (for me) need a panel inserted on both side-seams to make more room inside, hmm maybe changing the pit-zips to go further down? Good tip about sewing a bugnet into the scarf, another idea I will defo borrow! p.s. I still wonder... did you tip over or did the floorboards give way when you finally donned the full bergen kit?

@@El_Croc Yeah if could redo I'd have gotten a larger Mtp to allow room, if I put the basha and amok in the front lower inside pockets it is a bit tricky to fasten up but hey, snug is warm right? 😂 And no lol, I didn't fall over but the pushie is a solid part of the plan now so six rockets go on the bike for transport. I'm currently trying to zip and clip the Bergen to a vest but don't want to lose the straps from it completely. That way the vest serves as a light jacket, webbing frame and bergen straps. Glad you like the scrim mod, I salvaged the bugnet from a cheap hammock I have.👍

@@OldNavajoTricks The bike makes sense 👍 Bergen harness goes back under arms and pulls its base to body, keeps weight on shoulders, not sure how a vest could do that?

Stitch rocket zips to bergen and vest so that it bears the weight, waistbelt still does its thing as normal but the lower straps undone can feed up around the ribcage as a kind of X sternum strap, the upper straps doubled in half provide added comfort up top. I'm just playing with how they get secured as clips would be good but limited in adjustment, might try additional strapping from the front kidney level to suit and tension but that adds weight and would need stowing when the bergen gets dumped. So overall it'd basically be belt order that you can clip the main to but can unclip it fast if needed or zip and clip for security.
