It is good for people to start speaking about these topics. Unfortunately there were some concepts that were not clearly explained and also some of them might lead to a wrong notion of gender. I'd like to focus on what the candidate said about the time she knew she was transgender. 2:37 She said the moment she knew she was trans was when she had a crush on a boy, but also adding the fact that it would not have seemed right or "maganda" if their looks were the same. Based on this statement, she merges two different concepts. The concept of "gender identity" and "sexual preference". Being a transwoman doesn't imply that you're attracted to males or men. The concept of transgenderism, on the point of view of transwomen, is based on the fact that women are people who perceive themselves as women (which is an idea based on culture). For instance, lesbian women are still women who are homosexual. I guess most people make mistakes regarding LGBTQ+ topics since they are very complex due to the fact that behind a single case, there are various notions and ideas that may be difficult to understand all at once. But still, I am happy that people are starting to want to know more about it.
