While 500 years ago there were estimated to be 5 to 6 millions indigenous Native Americans in the USA, before Christopher Columbus arrived, today there are only around 2 million indigenous Native Americans survived. Imagine this scenario, if Native American people cross the Atlantic, invade and Colonize Europe, and slaughter most Europeans, and put the remaining populations in tiny reservations, for 500 long years. How would Europeans feel about it? Think about it. All they need is their beloved motherland back, the lands that their ancestors' forebears had lived through thick and thin, endured through hardships and all for generations. Besides, indigenous Native Americans in Colonized lands of Anglo British, Spaniard and others are more of the same. Kill the indigenous Natives and whoever is left, marginalize them and create artificial poverty, once that poverty becomes crime and drinking, the media points to the poor and blames them to continue to stigmatize the 'other' community, scumbags, etc. Amazing fact that Indigenous Natives had built such great civilizations as Mayan, Inca and Aztec without outside help, and all from scratch, and all on their own, since they had been cut off from the rest of the world for twenty thousand years. In other words, they actually are great and proud people. Imagine what it would be like today if Native Americans had possessed some sort of nuclear weapons to defend themselves, and their beloved motherlands from invaders Colonizers? The answer is they would still have their own beloved motherlands, plus their population comparable to that of the European population. In my humble opinion, it's about time to decolonize the Colonized lands, and return it to rightful owners Native American people. I prefer them this length. Any longer and I know it would be hard for me to make time to learn about this complex and multi-layered topic. I often have to skip videos that are longer than 15 minutes on KZbin because I just don't have the time to wade through the content to find specifically what I'm interested in learning. As it is, this video in part of a larger series about the British Monarchy. Overall, I believe it has over an hour's worth of content. Each video however is less than 15 minutes, which is how it should be. Think of it like a chapter in a longer book. Would you want to read a 300 page book with no chapter divisions? I know I wouldn't.

might be an unpopular opinion but I think jamaica was better off as a british colony. As an island nation you are so dependent on imports you want to have close ties to a major economic player like the UK. British people were much more likely to invest in Jamaica, or holiday there when it was a colony. WHILE we as FIRST NATIONS, INUIT & METIS have the highest numbers when it comes to OPIOID Deaths, UNCLEAN WATER, CHILDREN in care, SUICIDE RATES, DIABETIS HIV STI TRANSMISSIONS, ALCOHOL & DRUG ABUSE. and so on. All of this i learned growing up on a reserve, (the nazi's also had reserves, I did not know that until three weeks ago), i lived in a bubble thinking that everything was alright. Doesn't really talk about what the commonwealth does bad, as much as the injustices of the empire. The two are very different things. There are exploitative people in the UK, but it's not institutionalised. If you wanna see real institutionalised neo-colonialism, look at France's relationship with its west African colonies. They basically stage 'interventions' whenever the general they installed as leader decides they don't want to give the oil/diamonds/random resource to the Europeans. The commonwealth is not the monarchy. It actually has been a fantastic social mobility vehicle for many developing nations. It hardly functions as a colonial org anymroe nor has it for some time. To get rid of something that offers value TODAY for origins in the PAST is ludicrous. Abolish the references to monarchy and restructure but deconstructing the commonwealth will be disastrous to global cooperation and economic growth.

There are advantages to being in the commonwealth aswell, it's pointless if you aren't going to give a balanced view. Not all members of the commonwealth have the royal family as head of state and not all members were part of the British empire. There are advantages for commonwealth citizens with trade deals within the commonwealth and opportunities for commonwealth citizens to live and study in the UK, my mate is from Kenya and he's more than happy to be a commonwealth citizen, he's been able to come to the UK and study at university and bring his wife over who's not a commonwealth citizen and have a good life in the UK that they'd struggle to get in Africa. It's not about subservience and power anymore it's like being friends with benefits.

@@Hudute I did, but like most of my KZbin viewing I'm usually doing something else at the same time, I'll watch it again later when I can devote my full attention. I just feel that there's a lot of bashing of the commonwealth and for a lot of people there are huge advantages and opportunities to be had from being a commonwealth citizen. I know my mates incredibly happy that he's been able to have the opportunity to study, work and raise a family in the UK that he just wouldn't have been able to do in the same way in Kenya. There are loads and loads of people living throughout the UK from commonwealth countries that are happy about the commonwealth and for them it's been hugely beneficial.

I like the monarchy. They have no real power, cost little, and it's nice to have those big, public diplomatic relationships that can go on for decades vs. the short term stuff politicians do.
