Australia's Deadliest Old-School Gangster

5 жыл бұрын

For almost 30 years notorious gangster Graham 'Abo' Henry and his partner Neddy Smith ruled the mean streets of Sydney, Australia's crime capital, with iron fists. They went head-to-head with other gangs, crooked cops, unsuspecting civilians, and finally each other, all with the endorsement of Australia’s most infamous bent cop, Roger Rogerson. With violence, bloodshed and fear as his tools of trade, Abo Henry carved a swathe through the criminal underworld, raking in millions, and living by his own code of honor; one of looking after your mates, and never, ever rolling on them. His criminal career came to an end on what is known as Sydney’s deadliest pub crawl, which culminated in Henry stabbing police prosecutor Mal Spence in the stomach and the neck.

Its strange to hear the backstory of this man. Abused as a child, he was probably mentally disturbed from a young age, learned that violence was the answer from his father & spiralled from there. With the right support he'd have lived an entirely different life.

Really not dissimilar to chopper Reid, Marvin Herbert and more than a few other violent criminals. I'll say pursuing violence amongst other criminals is better than, say, robbing civilians, but the childhood trauma is also a common factor in serial killers too.

@@RJ-wx3fh a harsh reality, we all made those monster what they are by looking away and not protecting them when they were children… the number of serial killer with the exact same pattern of abuse and how it shows up in their murders is terrifying, way more than dismissing them as monsters. Parents need to think hard about how they raise their children .I was raised in a violent family I’m now 50 and I have problems from my childhood . Sometimes I’m just a freaking lunatic and if you cross me I will not forget . I try hard as hell to keep myself in check , I slipped up recently and got in trouble when I chased down a guy doing burnouts outside my house . I smashed his windows in and I’m glad he sped off before I got him out of the vehicle . I was in a rage . My mother was violent and my father beat my mother , my mother enjoyed us beating up the neighbours as kids and I even remember our whole family fighting another family out in the streets . Just crazy stuff . Both my own children I raised up and they are both fantastic kids , no trouble , good jobs and sensible young adults . When I look back I’m angry with how my parents brought violence into our family home but I guess they were selfish and didn’t know any better .

It's hell interesting that when he's talking to the interviewer in the pub and he brings up his personal traumas with his dad and his mum, the whole scene he hardly even looks the interviewer in the eye, like it's hard for him to say what he's saying and not feel like it's disingenuous... or sad.

I did 4 years in prison in my 20's, 3 of which were max and It was my first and only time in prison. Im 35 now - anyways.... Oddly enough some of the guys with the worst crimes In there, were all normal looking guys. Like the dude who helps you pay for your redbull at the store because your 50 cents short type of normal. Typically the guys who "Looked" most aggressive and dangerous were surprisingly mostly locked up on smaller petty crimes. It was the dudes you would least expect that were the most dangerous. Seeing this first hand I learned alot about the "dark streets" side of the world. The hidden violent world tucked under the bed of most peoples lifes.

He should still be in prison. Prison should not exist for the purpose of punishment, but for the purpose of deterrent. This man will teach the youth what to look up to, and they will commit similar violent acts with no inhibition because they know they can get away with only 6 years if they get caught.
