We absolutely LOVE them here in Brazil! They're reliable and cheap to mainain. Plus, hella easy to tune-up. Search for Chevrolet Opala here on KZbin and you'll see a few of those making anything from 300whp to 2,500whp, insane engine. My Opala in the picture runs a 4 ciliner version of that engine. Just as reliable.

I drove a 1969 in 1970, 6 with the single barrel carb, which I tried to open up - lol Good one here: drove it all summer to move house furniture to new location, well never thought to check the oil and it ran out and the engine stops, two guys pull up and bail me out with some oil. It ran fine for years after that.

I knew the gas axe was eventually going to come into play. Derek, you have encouraged a lot of us armchair mechanics to get off our brains and start wrenching on our cars, trucks, SUVs, boats, motorcycles, and even planes in my case. Last week I changed out Ball Joints, Tie Rod ends, brakes, oil, and charged my AC on my 2007 Yukon XL. My alignment shop even said I did such a good job on my installs that they wondered if I needed a side job. I am too old for that, but glad I can still get things done for myself. If you are concerned about those bed braces losing strength, use the center pieces to brace the corner between the bedside and the bottom of the frame rail.

Installing a Boyd tank on my 66 was the best money I have spent. I have a 6.0 LS that was running off the original in bed tank and a fuel pump. The tank had venting issues, and gas smell issues (the original building had a rubber return hose (bad). The Boyd with in tank pump has solved all my problems and been great.

That straight six is the same as was in lots of the old Holdens here in NZ as I grew up (old, cheap, and plentiful, not worth a lot after a long life). I remember how easy n reliable they were, really hard to kill, really easy to start or get running. I was surprised when you said you were changing it because it was a pig to start. I'm guessing it's because it isn't stock. It kind of reminds me why I think stock is best. Then again, some folks really enjoy trying stuff out making improvements, including sorting out all the little prob's involved. I think it's pretty clear you are one of those folks, me, I was just grateful that my car still worked after I'd modified anything, and it wasn't always an improvement. Stock is easiest but not always best, but to me there's a real benefit to being easy. I've really enjoyed watching you sort stuff out n go on your adventures over the years so also wanted to say cheers for that.

A lot of older guys who don't know, well they just don't know. EFI is a FABULOUS thing, you can tune it with a laptop and a little bit of know how (it's just as difficult as learning to use a vacuum gauge and all the screws and setting your t's to a square and all that) it's BETTER to run fuel injection. It literally takes ALL of the guesswork out of fueling your machine. Seriously guys, take a minute and just LEARN EFI!! It's WONDERFUL!

Hey, I owned a body shop for 30yrs. For 23 yrs I said someone needs to make a zinc spray like the dip the big 3 uses. Then for the first time in my restoration shop I used the POR system. After reading proper use of it... realized the metal ready is a zinc converter prep for the epoxy coating. So, put the blue stuff in a spray bottle after soap and watering longmire after dry. And your done. Cheap out and rattle can or put POR epoxy with hardner. Former Ryan Roberts, Joey Auto body, Showtime Hotrod and Restoration Inc. Last I should have trademarked 10 showed up later. I repeatedly said I do show cars, hotrods, and restorations not cars like yours. So a friend said why dont you call your shop that... you say it every time anyway. I did, by the way used a many Vice grips... even forgot a few still holding in shifter linkages and such. Glad there's crazies such as myself driving those home, thanks Ryan O.
