I love this show. I started wrenching on cars at 12 with my Dad and after dropping out of school at 15, was always forced to buy $200. junkers that I had to turn into daily drivers with only pocket change from crappy $5.an hr jobs. It brings back memories and the sense of accomplishment from saving a derelict old car and making it into something others admired is unbeatable. Nowadays I'm older, professional and earn enough to buy any car I want but the show takes me back and allows my hands to stay clean. Thanks Derek!

I love vids like this, recently brought home an 84 K20 Suburban with a 4 speed that had sat for around 20 years but most of the time was in the fire department garage, it has very minimal weight reduction in the rear quarters frame was nearly mint, but engine had insane amounts of blow by I assume stuck rings but still drove and had decent power I actually drove it to work for a few weeks until it started having fuel starvation issues I was planning to run it til it blew before putting another 350 in, tried 4 different quadrafloods, New fuel pump, filters, many cans off berryman, I decided the issue was likely in the tank and parked it dropped the tank for cleaning and a new sock which I found to be choked off with crud. Swapped in another engine, mix of new and brand used parts and lines. Threw on a set of headers. Still needs exhaust but I drove it to the gas station and to town with open headers. Does great now just have to get it to the shop for exhaust!

Well like a lot of us out here that love watching you do this show, this is a gem I missed when initially binge watching your channel! It’s like reminiscing with a friend or brother on the good old times in the past! This one reminds me of an old friend that had a 69 Chevy 4 wheeler that was my drywall hanging partner. When we weren’t hanging drywall, we were off roading ! This was around 1971, in the SanFernando , Valley, Los Angeles and surrounding areas! We had a blast at work and our recreational off roading! But one thing I found out was that you can get more stuck , or stuck worse in a four wheel drive vehicle than a two wheel vehicle ! What’s crazy was we got stuck more , in town on muddy job sites than out of town moseying around exploring the local landscape! Now this Feller already knows why? You fellers figure that one out or yourselves! Well I’ll be dipped! 😂😜….

One being shaken violently between gears because my mom never knew how to drive it right lol and if it was cold....yikes. and no power steering hehe. But what i remember most? It never left us stranded. Rode in it from California to Mississippi, stayed two years then rode in it back to California from Mississippi. They finally sold it in 98. Years ago I bought a 67 C-10 long bed with a 350 and manual 3 speed. I got it real cheap because the garage only wanted what they had in it. From what I learned a customer brought it to them with a blown engine and supplied the engine he wanted put in it. When they started the new motor it didn't have any power and the owner didn't want to pay them so it set there for years . They finally got title with a mechanics lean and I bought it. When I pulled it home and took the valve covers off 4 push rods were lower than the others and rockers not touching them. My father in law was a mechanic and thought it had a bad cam But I noticed that when the engine was turned over the push rods moved up and down as much as the others but seemed too short. My father in law said no it can't be that simple. We pulled the lifters and 4 were badly worn. Put in a new set of lifters and drove it for another 6 years. Engine was still running strong when I sold it.

Really nice to see it run. My grandfather loved this generation of Chevy/GMC pickups. He had three at different times and I got to drive them as well. One was "The Red Beast" a '69 C/10 into which he had transplanted a 455 Olds engine and automatic trans. Then there was a 71 Chevy with a 283 and 4 speed. The last was a '72 GMC, but more basic. 2 wheel drive, 6 cylinder engine, 3 on the tree manual. The manuals were fun to drive, too, but the '69 was brutally fast. Pass everything but a gas station................... :D

I love those old GM pickups from the late 60's - early 70's. That's a great find.
