This drum line is incredible. As an ageing ex marching band drummer this warms my heart watching this whilst also blowing my mind with the complexity, accuracy and skill of each of those young people. Incredible they should each be so proud of themselves and the work they have clearly invested. All credit to the coaches.

This is great content. Very useful. Thanks VF. (and Boston of course) Nice to see a straight-ahead, useful sequence that more students can use to improve their skills.

As a drummer and the Dad of two up & coming drummers this video is amazing. The level of challenge here is TOUGH!! You have to be a drummer to understand how difficult this exercise is....that they make look like child's play. We need more high schools to be able to hire full time percussion instructors. Too often the Band Director is a horn player w minimal percussion abilities. To get kids into the right habits and techniques to achieve this level requires early teaching

Preach it brother! I taught band for 30 years and I'm a percussion specialist and I can tell you first hand, habits start young and need to be reinforced in the beginning stages.

And to think...... they were sight reading this. 😭😭😭😭 Most of these rudiments I was familiar with, but some of em were new to me and I'm a 28 year old percussion instructor/band director. 😭

This was part of their audition process. I’m sure they all spent a lot of time with the rudiment sheet, but they had the music to remember the order.

Dawg, it's an exercise, i would much rather them focus and preform it well then them looking like idiots playing something that's only meant for chops.

I resemble that remark being from the era of D.C.I. when it was uncool to show emotion or move around when you played. Just sayin'.
