1979 in Kalifornien gegründet, gehören Vicious Rumors mittlerweile zu den dienstältesten Bands ihres Genres. Aufgrund zahlreicher Besetzungswechsel ist Gitarrist Geoff Thorpe das einzig verbliebene Gründungsmitglied. 2022 meldete sich die Band mit neuem Sänger zurück und klingt frisch wie eh und je.
Ihre ersten Gigs absolvierten Vicious Rumors an den legendären "Metal Mondays" in den einschlägigen Schuppen der San Francisco Bay Area mit Kollegen wie Mötley Crüe, Metallica und Exodus.
Nach einigen Demos und Metal Sampler-Beiträgen bekam die Band ihren ersten Labeldeal und brachte 1986 ihr Debütalbum "Soldiers Of The Night" heraus, mit dem sie vor allem in Europa für Furore in der Szene sorgte. Schon ihr drittes Album landete die Band bei Atlantic Records, wo sie in den Neunzigern mit einigen Longplayern, darunter das Japan-Livealbum "Plug In And Hang On" ihre Heimat hatten. Aufgrund einer Zwangspause - Geoff Thorpe musste sich an beiden Händen operieren lassen - ließ das Label die Band fallen. Von da an kümmerte sich die Band selbst um ihren Kram und arbeitete nur noch mit kleineren Plattenfirmen zusammen.
1995 starb der damalige Sänger Carl Albert. Thorpe übernahm den Gesang. Danach kam es wieder zu einigen Besetzungswechseln und in den Nuller- und Zehnerjahren nahm die Band ein bisschen den Fuß vom Gas, brachte aber weiterhin Alben heraus. 2022 meldeten sich Vicious Rumors mit einem Knall in Person des neuen Sängers Ronny Munroe zurück.

Non ho capito cosa c'entrino i gruppi da te citati con i Vicious Rumors, anche perché sono seminali per il 90% delle heavy metal band. Peraltro i VR hanno una storia ormai consolidata e una discografia piuttosto eclettica.

@@Utcheeow c'entrano amico, il sound di questi VR e' il risultato di un sapiente mix dei 3...Loro sono bravi per carita' ,ma....il loro sound e' troppo poco personale. Ascolta i live di Wucan, El Perro.,Radio Mosvow,..per me son piu coinvolgenti...naturalmente e' un parere personale,niente polemiche,lasciamole ai politici ed ai tifosi di calcio.Auguri!

I’ve never seen a replacement singer screw up the lyrics so bad and at so many different shows. This band used to be one of the best ever, live or or recorded. They were a machine in their prime years. Sad😢
