The context of the song as u asked was basically the day of eid and varun and adi met near the lake and adi was sad and drinking and then they meet and talk about life and release their frustation and become friends. The reason for the dance is because its eid and its like a huge party. They were just dancing with an other girl for fun, they did not leave roop. And roop actually comes after the song is over which is not shown here but is shown in the movie

I watched it on first day first show, and to be very honest I loved it, half of the people who are spreading negativity for the film have not even watched it, yes the movie is 168 minutes long, but when has been there times when a period movie is not long enough, you can't rush things also I agree in two scenes, the editing is bad.. but over all the movies is worth watching and the climax is the most powerful part of the movie and it'll have you in tears, yes it's that epic... every song moves with the story so well, and MD in tabaah ho gaye is something else, and much more than what you've seen! You should definitely go and watch it.. and to answer your question, no they do not know each other in this song and the scenes around it, and that's all I can say

hey,i watched kalank the day it came out,i really liked it,mum said to go again and watch it lool.We've never really liked varun dhawan but omg this film has changed our perspective,his acting stood out to us in this film and i cant wait for him to take on more serious roles like this.

They know each other by name but have never met till this point but zafar knows by the end of the song..i was surprised i loved how beautiful it looked the vfx for the bul fight seen was sloppy but it was a scene not needed i think i loved alia n varuns chemistry but alia its like the loves she feels for zafar is conveyed through the eyes reaching her soul and it makes u cry direction is sloppy n long n i dont know i wanted more of varun n alia and more of the family dynamic in there cuz i didnt feel sanjay dutts character much

Where’s this supposed to be set?? I hope it’s a fictional city/town because otherwise the inaccuracies will not let me enjoy the movie.
