I feel you - that was true for me as well. I do hope that you also, as I am, will do everything in your power to see that these tragedies are greatly reduced in frequency and severity. Prayers are important, but just as important is individual action. If prayers were enough this problem, which is completely unique in to the U.S., wouldn't be getting exponentially worse with every passing year - and both major political parties share blame.

Look up Crown Rock v. Gonzales. The police have no legal obligation to protect innocent life, per the Supreme Court 2004. Their only job is to apprehend the criminal. Whether thats immediately or 60 minutes from then. They can block off the entire school, let the shooter run wild, and do nothing but arrest him, and they are not legally held accountable for that loss of life. This is why all cops are bastards.
