Thank you for covering this sort of topic! There is so much history that we never learned in history class, and our understanding of the world is incomplete and lopsided without it.

Thank you Vincent. Thank you so much. I am Indonesian and I am so proud of you reporting one of the darkest moment in our history as a nation. Even Indonesians do not know so much about JAKARTA METHOD.

I'm an Indo-American, my dad immigrated to the US from Jakarta in the 60's, and didn't know about any of this until I read The Jakarta Method. I was horrified! My dad joined the US Air Force in order to sponsor his siblings and parents. I'm heartbroken that he joined the empire that destroyed his homeland. He passed away over 20 years ago, so I can't even discuss this with him.

There was a major British involvement in the overthrow of Sukharno, not least, involving an oil-rich part of the Indonesian archipelago then called "British North Borneo." (The south of Borneo was Indonesian territory.) I speak as an ex-serviceman who "visited" it prior to the US/UK instigated civil war, and I now know, while the scene was being set for that horrendous bloodbath.
@spiritualanarchist81624 жыл бұрын
I and never heard about "British North Borneo.". Was it created after W.W 2 ? Must have pissed off the Dutch, who did not manage to get Brittish & U.S help to get 'their' colony back, and then see the English erecting a new one.

@@spiritualanarchist8162 The part that UK wasn't military involved isn't true, they the send it Gurka's to help the KNIL ( Dutch Indie military most of them were Manado, Maluku, Ghana, dutch indo people ) the UK later on when the dutch lost position stop supporting the Dutch racist facist warcrimes!

read Eric Hansen's book on his walk across Borneo with the Dayak people - "Stranger in the Forest" - that was in the 1980s I think - now it's mainly oil monoculture - vegetable oil I think. John Pilger's documentary on Burma, "Inside the Land of Fear" exposes the British genocidal policies there also.

Joshua Oppenheimer's film: the look of silence is a must watch. He really exposed the Suharto regime and provoked discussion about this crime against humanity.

I've always thought the term "developing world" was much worse than "third world". It's like a sort of historical euphemism, as if these countries just happen to be a little slower in their economic development rather than having been ravaged by imperialism and neo-imperialism.

What's the death count of anticommunism?
@verdiadhanta51953 жыл бұрын
in Indonesia, around 1 million. The one doing the death campaign claims (proudly) that he killed 3 million. And this is not in a 'war' setting. It was plain massacre. In other 20-or more countries that Vincent mention, i dont know.

i was shocked to learn how much blood was shed in order to advance in democracy around the world, but I also thought that there are important reasons , the first is the fact that people are expendable in the eyes of the left, so that martyrs are necessary and they don't hesitate at the hour that you must make the sacrifice, second, the bloodshed is a trickle compared to the genocide brought to earth by the left once they seize power and before, inconmensurable superior in quantities to other political deaths .....and that doesn't take into account the kind of crappy economic nightmare that the population must endure.......third is that a free market, however imperfectly structured by the different states, is perfect investment becuse all share private property, thus 100% of chances are distributed by 100 % of would be owners, contrary to socialism that makes the privileged party play the luck of everybody......

"people are expendable in the eyes of the left, " jesus are you really that fucking lacking in self awareness, you're insane "advance democracy" thats a funny euphism for decades of rule by a fascist military junta it had nothing to do with democracy, just the profit of western corporations

so you think the CIA backed genocidal massacres of 1 million people was "worth it" (to quote Madeleine Albright on the U.S. led sanctions on Iraq killing over 1 million elderly and children in the 1990s).
