I'll never understand how Victor Goines makes the clarinet sound like that. It's so beautiful.

My name is Barbara, I am Barney Bigards Grand Daughter, I also have his clarinet, funny to hear someone talk about my Grand Father.

I remember when Mr Bigard played whith Louis Armstrong ( It was with the all stars I think ) He played Dardanella alone in solo during 6 minutes . 6minutes with never 2 x the same musical sentence ( I hope you understand , in french we say : jamais 2 x le même phrasé ) He was the only one who can do that with a clarinet . Barney Bigard had a great imagination , for me , he was the best clarinetist during all that fantastic years ...

Victor Goines is all class. He now teaches at Northwestern University. Chicago has a received a wonderful gift from the great city of New Orleans.

The pieces he played with the Rex Stewart, and Django Reinhardt are truly amazing

Thank you for remember Barney Bigard. I think the use of an Albert system clarinet is essential for producing that New Orleans sound. It's what gives you that "woody" sound.

Not essential. Pete Fountain, Tom Fischer, Tim Laughlin come to mind immediately as long time New Orleans masters…all played/play Boehm, and Victor Goines here sounds beautiful playing in the style.
