Yeah I’d say that pretty true, he was only doing what he could to provide medicine for his sick brother and lance. That was still the driving force for his part in the drug industry of vice city. After eliminating Martinez he wanted to go legit but not too long into the future he ends up selling coke again with lance and dies at a drug deal gone wrong. Tommy lives, Toni lives, Claude lives and CJ lives but vik dies. The most moral character of the 3D universe dies. Cj’s motives were because he felt guilt over leaving grove street and letting it get so rundown, Claude wanted revenge and so did Tommy but also wanted to rule the empire of vice city which could be out of spite and to show Sonny he shouldn’t be fucked with.

@@mrpickle-pe2in Sonny was supposed to do 15 years in prison, not Tommy. Tommy took the fall for Sonny. Claude got set up by Cesar's cousin and ex girlfriend of CJ. CJ wanted to go legitimate, but got drag back in by Sweet. Everyone in the hood depends on CJ.

You have to understand. CJ and Victor are the glue to the organization. When CJ left Families, Families couldn't stand on their own. Sweet couldn't run Families without CJ. Sweet is the leader/Muscle CJ is the brains, muscle and Co. Leader. Without CJ , Families ain't nothing. Sweet doesn't have business sense. Sweet is just a leader and Muscle. Sweet isn't smart enough to run a gang without CJ. CJ wants to take Families out the streets and form them into a international business. The same with Victor. He's the leader and founder of the Vance crime Family. Victor wants to take the Vance family off the streets and make them legitimate. Lance and Sweet don't want to be legitimate.

Mike E that is very true, I always hear how people hated sweet because he always gave Carl shit for making it big and going legit. Also how lance is just a dumb ass who is just greedy. Viktor if given the chance would take his business away from crime and stick to a more reasonable career. Yeah it would be funded by drug money but when you’re in their position you start doing things without too many questions just to keep yourself well kept. CJ and VIK were smart protagonists but so are the others it’s just they have different goals. Tommy wants to own a drug empire, Toni wants to be a respected enough to make his mum proud, claude just wants to get his revenge and nothing else is known about his motives other than the fact that he wants to be wealthy. Oh yeah and mike just wanted to leave liberty city because of what kind of a place it is.

Vic is so underrated. I played VCS before VC and learning later on that he was killed in the beginning of VC left a bad taste in my mouth. I used to think he and Lance and Diaz had a really strong crime organization between VCS and VC and Diaz just wanted it all to himself. It's really odd to me learning that the Vance brothers just leave for two years and come back for one deal. But Vic is like my second favorite GTA protagonist because he and Niko both didn't ask to be part of the life they lived. They had to do it because there wasn't any other choice. And sure, that could be said for others, but Niko and Vic both still had some morality left in them.

Fun fact: the sergeant that berates Vic for bringing the prostitute to the base at 4:33 is Opie from the Opie & Anthony Show. They'd become good friends with Lazlow a few years earlier and even had small cameos as callers on WCTR in San Andreas. Anthony would go on to become the singer of the Pisswasser commercials in GTAs IV and V and the Armadillo gunsmith in Red Dead Redemption, while other show staff members (as well as comedian friends of the show, such as Bob Kelly and Patrice O'Neal) would also be given various voice roles in VCS, IV, and V. Some were even hired by Lazlow to work at Rockstar when they left and/or were fired by SiriusXM.

I've also called into Lazlow's show live at The Compound back in '09, and about 10 years ago I knew a dude who started working at Rockstar for a few years: moved his family from Texas to Jersey for the job. Right when GTA V dropped, Danny Ross himself (also a Rockstar employee at the time thanks to Lazlow) sent me a message letting me know I was selected by that friend for early participation in GTA Online, which wasn't releasing for another 2 weeks. Felt kinda cool to be one of the first non-employees in the entire world to give it a go. And yeah, Antwan also voiced that black market doctor in GTA IV when you take Manny's body in the trunk over the East Borough Bridge from Bohan to Dukes. Norton played a porn shop owner and had a voice on Just or Unjust, Patrice and Fez were on Fizz!, East Side Dave was on the Martin Serious Show, Steve C played a cop, Bob Kelly played a garbage truck driver, Sam was a pedestrian, etc. Oh yeah, Feed Nana!

People are rightfully saddened by playable characters like Victor and Johnny dying like they did, but that's how things go. When you're a criminal, sometimes that happens. You get filled full of holes during a deal and bleed out on a dock. Or you get your head smashed in on the side of the road by a psychotic gun runner, the last two sensations is the hot desert sand under your body and a boot coming down on your face. No dramatics. No peaceful death. It happens suddenly and violently. It's the criminal life. You die on the side of the road somewhere, and you don't get an open casket funeral. That's the street life, and the street death.

This was my first GTA and played it in my early teens where my brain is still as sharp as a dumb child. I didn't really get most of the story, but I remember appreciating Vic's compassion to those close to him, especially reluctantly doing bad things for his family. This video was essentially a perfect recap for my first GTA experience. Thanks for this video! Loving this series. Only thing I'd add is some sort of filter that makes the game footage look like CCTV or hidden camera footage to create context for the footage's existence. This would add to the true crime documentary/police files style while helping the videos avoid potential automatic copyright claims and further the content's case as transformatively fair use.

Vic Vance's storyline was realistic. Criminals are not immortal and people who choose to live that life of crime will face consequences. However, I wish Vic Vance death was more impactful like Arthur Morgan in RDR but Rockstar didn't thought of him as a protagonist before Vice City Stories came out.

Since because we don't know if Tommy, Toni, Claude and heck even Mike From Advance are alive because these the only type characters that didn't got mentioned alot in the later games, the only characters that possibly still alive were CJ and Niko Luis

Man so much tragedy in all of these GTA stories. Fucking Lance… what a horrible person. Unfortunately, it’s not as far off from real life as it should be. It’s obviously a dramatization, but women really do cheat, people you love do get addicted to drugs, and people betray you all of the time. On a lighter note, life can also be funny like GTA often points out to us.

Sonny is the one that ambushed the deal not Diaz The drugs are all on his table as a dead giveaway. It also makes more sense for him to set up Tommy a second time just like he did before. Also it just fits more narratively for Lance's character Arc for Sonny to be the one that ambushed the deal. In the end Lance was a fucking Idiot that aligned himself with his Brothers killer. The betrayal is what got Victor killed. There is an irony to it that drugs is what got Victor into crime, got him kicked out of the military, got him rich, got Lance into it, got him so much trouble, and most of all the drugs is what got Victor killed at the end as well.

Vic Probably could have lived if he turned his criminal empire to legitimate businesses like Groceries, Apartments, Gas Stations, Restaurants and Car Repair Shops. He already have more than enough at the end of VCS for himself and his Brother who have asthma he never have to worry about money but he wanted more than he can chew. With those businesses he'll never run out of money anymore he could have layed low and start a private peaceful life. Supporting Mary Beth the baby of Louise, Ignoring Lance since he is childish and focused on the finer things in life.

it was very easy for me to buy into the story of Victor and Vance and Louise as the older brother of a sister who is both a single mother with a lot of bad habits and financial problems who I've had to help out and act like a replacement father for my nephew at times. It is difficult for me to know what to do since I know I am arguably enabling her on the many occasions that I've paid bills for her or made sure she had an apartment to live in, but I also care too much for her as my family and cant just abandon her.

It is 100% Vic as far as I know. I hear people sometimes say it was Pete, but it isn't. Pete was sick and not involved in the drug business. They just didn't think about Vic's voice when they gave him his 2 lines in VC and then decided to flesh him out for VCS.

I say Victor survived. He left Cice City in 1995 and sold his properties. PETER was brought in by Lance to do te drug deals. THAT is who we see at the beginning of GTS Vice Cit (1986)

Playing the original Vice City after playing this hits you with some HEAVY Ludo Narrative dissonances with Victors character. First off that guy in the intro IS NOT Victor to me. He doesn't sound or act ANYTHING like him. Victor would never talk like that and second and most importantly Victor would have murdered everybody that tried to ambush him. No way in hell would he die like a chump like that. It honestly makes ZERO sense

While it is understanable some would think this, it is stated that A: Pete is not involved in the drug trade with his brothers and never has been and B: That the model used for Vic in VCS is based off the Vic model from VC. I know the voices don't match up, but that is most certainly not Pete in VC. Rockstar has confirmed as such.

I said it before and I'll say it again, It was the third brother, Pete, who was killed at the beginning of Vice City. I believe that Victor sold his properties to Avery Carrington. Notice how all of those buildings are gone? Where Vic went, I don't know but I believe that Lance convinced Peter to join him in the drug business. I know that someone at RockStar confirmed that it was Vic that died but I know how the spokesmen at companies are, they aren't the ones in the creative team. Hey, it would be a great thing if RockStar came out with a game that answered a few questions while joining Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas. Show Toni Cipriani's father and Salvatore Leone starting out in crime. They could both be interested in his mother but she chose Toni's father. Sal respects them both so he backs away. When Toni's father dies, he vows to take care of mother Cipriani. Show Victor Vance coming back to Vice City when he hears that both of his brothers are killed and wants to get their killer. After a stand off with Vercetti, Vic realizes that Lance's fate was his own fault. They team up for a few missions. Carl Johnson tries to save his neighborhood in several missions but decides it's best to move the family to San Fierro. Show what happened to Claud and Catalina during the years it took them to get from San Andreas to Liberty City. Bring back alot of the radio actors, even if under new characters. Music from the 60's and 70's!!

just realized something, up until this episode cj is the only character you reported on who didn't have his girlfriend cheat on him or die (assuming denise to be the only canon gf since all the others are not tied to any missions). one could make a point about catalina "breaking up" with him and going with claude but cj was never even interested in her at all so i'd say she doesn't count. i wonder when or if there will be another character who manages to keep his gf alive and staying with him.
