What do you think about Victor Wembanyama's Olympic run? Please Subscribe! Also sorry for not being able to use actual Olympic footage, the Olympics have been deleting other youtuber's videos so it just wasn't worth trying it. Thank you for watching!

I agree with your statement about him performing better against better competition. Just look at that finals Olympic game, that was his best Olympic performance and the fact that he managed to score 26 points against Team Avengers is kinda crazy, especially after just finishing his rookie season in the NBA.

I mean, he's so good already, he's _going_ to be the main guy whatever team he's on. I think it's more like "imagine him on a team with a legitimate number 2 running mate." Someone to be Pippen to his Jordan (play very good defense, and be able to make high IQ reads in transition). I'm pretty sure that's why Pop and the Spurs were trying to run that experiment with Sochan at PG (because Sochan already plays pretty tough defense) if they had been able to get him to just make good passing reads in transition like Pippen used to, like Draymond does, that could have helped unlock the Spurs ceiling. And that's why they drafted Castle as a long term solution for that PG/Point Forward guy.
@AlphaAbyss_

He would be the main guy on most teams in the NBA give it a few years and he won't be able to hide a away from him being the main guy on ever single team so he has to play like that

@@notjustcharles Lol yeah I was gonna say that too at first. Like the other guy said, he will always probably be the main guy but he could get someone as almost an equal or a second option. If wemby became even the second best player on his team the league would be in massive trouble

@@Lycanthony1 Idkkkkkk when I watched it live I didn't think it was a foul. If he did touch him it was next to nothing. I'm just going off of what the refs were calling all game. It would be a foul in the NBA but they call fouls for breathing on someone, they were letting them play in the Olympics. Either way it was still an incredible shot by strazel so they earned it, idk why the guy for Japan even contested it

Wemby was really physically bullied inside the paint. That was possible due to fiba rules which allows much more physical contacts.
@CourtsideChase
@CourtsideChase Ай бұрын
Yeah I noticed that at times too and that's partly why he was changing his shot selection game to game. Physical teams made him really work. He'll get better at dealing with that over time and hopefully will be able to put on some extra weight. He knows how to avoid contact pretty well which helps him a lot but definitely still needs to work on ways to fix that

I've noticed that too, it just looks a lot smoother overall. His confidence is also definitely going up for better or for better worse. I know he didn't shoot the best from 3 in the final games but I'm glad he has the confidence to keep shooting them, even if he does need to limit them a bit

Actually he was not the main guy of Olympics, not at all ! The main guys of the Olympics were Yabusele (he did great), Batum (good defense), Fournier (clutch), Lessort (good job on the paint), Cordinier (he's the reason why France did it to the final). They all did way better than wemby ! Il love wemby, but to be fair, the only good game he did was the finals. That's it.

@@CourtsideChaseBeing a leader in certain stats isn't enough to be called the "main guy." You need to show up when you're expected to, if not consistently. He didn't do that. Once again, those who really gave the game momentum, created opportunities, and brought aggressiveness are the ones I mentioned earlier. Of course, Victor is good, so he will manage to block shots and score points, but that's not what carries a team and gives it mental strength. Saying he carried the team is just completely false, and even the French team players confirmed it-Victor didn't have the expected impact, except in few games, including the final.
