Wemby is blocking 50% more shots per game than any other player in the NBA. He's eighth in the league in rebounds per game. He's fourteenth in the league in steals per game. He leads all rookies in those categories, and is also scoring four PPG more than any other rookie. He's committing too many turnovers and still needs a little time to find his shot, but to do all of that as a 20-year-old on one of the worst teams in the NBA in under 30 MPG... I mean, it's unbelievable. He is as exceptional as advertised, and that was an incredible amount of hype to live up to.

The thing is, he’s even starting to fix some of those caveats this season. In the previous 40 games, his fg% and 3pt % are 48% and 35% respectively, both very solid numbers. His season percentages are obviously lower because he wasn’t as good at the beginning, but he’s already figuring it out

I drafted him with my second round pick for fantasy basketball... safe to say I'll be a life long Wemby fan
@overlordnahak4 ай бұрын
To the people saying "yeah, he just got lucky to have the genetics to be 7ft3/4/5... and all he has to do is put the ball in the basket" : Wemby has been training ball since he was a kid in France in Nanterre well before the current hype. If you type " 7'3 16-year old Victor Wembanyama vs. 7'1 Rudy Gobert " on YT you will see what I mean. Gobert is a friend of Wemby nowadays, but this clip was recorded when Wemby was 16 (!), and Gobert was an internationally known player, let that sink in. This man Wemby was not only blessed by incredible genetics, he also put in the work to develop his hand/eye coordination, dribbling, shooting skills, etc in order to be ready for the NBA and it clearly paid off. We are lucky to witness a generational talent, I just sincerely hope that he doesn't get badly injured.

Man, I’m starting to become a fan of this kid. I’m excited for his future he just needs better players around him.

Victor the greatest basketball player ever. No one has ever done what he has done. This game play, and his numbers make him a contender for ROTY, DPOY, AND MVP!” You’ve never seen anyone like this. Total package and dominates everyone

NGL that block against Giannis is his best play as a pro. Giannis got him right before that by playing bully ball and Wemby was wasn’t gonna let it happen again. Love that competitive energy.

GOAT potential on full display, logo 3 + ability to handle the ball and already the best defender in the nba at 20 years old???? bro let this man grow an few more years and the league is fucking cooked, praying he stays healty!

Greatest rookie of all time and its not EVEN CLOSE. Genuinely insane. ROY and DPOY in his rookie year (genuine rookie year as well). Already in the top 10 MVP in the league imo. Next year most likely number 1 in MVP. Why? Nobody is as VALUABLE as Wemby. His impact on a team is INSANE, both on the defensive and offensive end. We might be looking at the future GOAT here. And by that I mean an indisputable GOAT. He's got the right mentality: humble, down to earth, respectful, unlike many of these new american players. No, don't talk about the "future" or his "future potential". The "future" is now. What we are witnessing is historic. Hopefully everything works out, especially those things he cant control (unlucky injuries, bad team management/front office etc.).

Yep. In a few years teams will need to go 5 vs 4 to compete.

No way was his rookie year better than Kareems, Shaqs, Wilts, Jordan's, Duncan's, Robinson's, Hakeems and Magics. Those guys actually led their teams to wins and playoff bets.

One of the greatest of our lifetimes, as most of us were not around to see Wilt Chamberlain's 38pt, 27 rebound rookie season.

Craziest thing about Wemby is that he can jump, dunk the ball, but it still might be a travel because his legs so damn long they might come back down before he flushes.

the fact that one of the commentators is laughing in almost every clip just shows you how ridiculous and laughably good he is

GOATED ! Wemby will be in the GOAT conversation in 20 years, and for many more years after that. I really hope he stays healthy, it's the only thing that can't stop him. Vive la baguette !

This is just insane. I 100% sure he is the best rookie in NBA history. There are few absolutely legendary players like MJ, Lebron, Shaq, but none of them can compete with Wemby in their respective rookie season.

@@reynalyndapat6284 You misunderstand. The taller you are, the more likely you are to break a bone. Wemby's got a long way to fall to the ground
@johnnyampatin4422 күн бұрын
@@badicusvibesimus182 Listen to me. It is common that some rookies are not accustomed to an 82-game season (super long), so getting injured are actually normal for rookies. Nothing's wrong with that as your body will adjust. But what's interesting is.. the 7'5" rookie yall calling "injury-prone" played 70+ games with no injuries at all. You know why? he's not fat like zion or shaq. His weight don't put pressure on his long limbs. Plus he takes good care of his body. Have you seen him doing yoga? how about full splits? i can't even do that at 5'7". Flexibility is the opposite of brittleness. And also, what "falling to the ground" were you talking about bruh?? wemby's got an 8 foot wingspan, he didn't need to jump to dunk LOL. That helps him avoid foot injuries, too.

👽 Nuff said. He will be the greatest two-way player to ever play the game. He will win the next 5 DPOY awards after this season and a MVP within the same timeframe.

If the Spurs can build a team around him like they did with Duncan, and he stays healthy and consistent like Duncan, this kid could easily be in the GOAT conversation when he hangs them up. Those are two big “if’s”, but Pop’s still there so they’re honestly not at the same time!!
