Malaki Branham (18 points, 6 assists) and Keldon Johnson (17 points) added a combined 35 points for the Spurs in the victory, while T.J. McConnell tallied a season-high 26 points, along with 5 assists for the Pacers in the losing effort. The Spurs have won back-to-back games as they improve to 13-48 on the season, while the Pacers fall to 34-28.

Wemby improved in so many areas in such a short period of time it is almost eerie. His ball handling is much tighter. When he started I found his ball handling a bit gimmicky, as if he was merely demonstrating the world that a 7'4 player can have a handle. But now? Very purposeful, efficient, no wasteful movements with a lot of seperation. His shooting mechanics: He really cleaned that up. His shooting stroke looks pure most of the time, very few of these hitches that we saw earlier. Shotblocking. He hardly ever bites on ball fakes anymore, and when he blocks the ball he really tries to keep the ball in play. No swatting into 3rd row. Just plucking the ball from the opposing player and initiating the offense from there. The psychological impact on opposing players is immense. You can see helplessness in their eyes.Those are major improvements with huge statistical impact. I hope the Spurs give him a chance to win games the second part of the season to validate both his DPOY and ROTY credentials.

By far the most insightful comment I have read about his improvement in this comment section or any other for that matter i noticed the same issues when he first came into the league but for me what really impresses me is how quick his decision making has improved on both ends it highlights his high basketball IQ and adaptability which leads me to believe even if he suffers some major injury that hampers his movement or fluidity he still will be very effective and high level player

And all of them aren't the type to goof around. They're serious, professional, and don't let off-the-court distractions affect their play. Wemby is tired of losing and you can just see it. He wants to win. At anything. Even in the all-star weekend when everyone was goofing around, he wanted to win but was let down by Ant who thought he was Larry Bird who can shoot lefty jumpers. He gives 100% every game even when his teammates are also young and inexperienced and prone to making mistakes. He just puts his head down and does his thing. He says he loves his team. And you can see that he is proud to be a Spur. Outside of the talent, he has this old-school mentality about him and that's priceless in today's NBA.
