VICTOR WEMBANYAMA WINS NBA BLOCKS LEADER AWARD

San Antonio Spurs Rookie Victor Wembanyama led the NBA in blocks per game (3.58), total blocks (254) and recorded a 10.01 block percentage, which is the highest of any player since Manute Bol in 1985-86. He’s the first rookie to lead the NBA in blocked shots since Bol and the first rookie to average 3.00-or-more blocks since Shawn Bradley in 1993-94.

Every hater were waiting for his "welcome to the NBA" moment, but what they got was a "Welcom to the Wemby-A" moment. Nobody is supposed to block those from Giannis, add to that the fact that EVERYBODY was saying that he was too thin, that he would be bullied by the big men of the NBA. This block, at this moment, on Giannis, was the moment Wemby introduce himself to the NBA.

They are trying to give justice to Wembys incredible historic rookie season by giving him the award. Wemby deserved the DPOY and not just the blocks leader. They should have voted with conscience. Wemby was more impactful and entertaining as a defensive specialist..The stats dont lie.

Defense is more than just blocks. I also agree he should've won DPOY but it makes sense for the DPOY not to lead the league in blocks. EDIT: Someone could lead the league in blocks, someone else could lead the league in steals... both can't win DPOY

I'm as big a fan as Wemby as anybody, but Sabonis had the better overall year.Shot nearly 60% from the floor and 38% from 3 while giving you 20pts 14rebs 8 assists and a steal. Wemby probably going to put everything to rest in year 2 though.

He should have won DPOY. He out put historic performance by any rookie in and Nba robbed him. How can he not win DPOY? Yes the team was never good but in terms of his solo defensive performance, he was the best without a shadow of a doubt.
