This was a comprehensive win over the 2-time AO champion. DY is officially back! Just months ago she was 140 in the world. After today, she is already up to #42. Let's go Dayana!

Dayana is FINALLY incorporating variety into her game. She can hit the ball super hard but that use to be her only tactic which is why she always lost. This new tactical Dayana is quite dangerous.

Dayana is no longer an ordinary ball-basher as some claim, she now construct points, and comes to net-impressed by her skills here. The more reason she's on a hot streak and obviously makes less errors now and does not drop leads

She has that quick, gazelle like movement :) and hits the ball flat and hard. She usually sprays it but this time she was hitting more winners. I'm glad she's back in form and winning. Not surprised by the result. I picked her to win this match. I remember how well she played in 2019 and when she took on tursanov briefly as her Coach he was really trying to teach her how to construct points and you saw her being able to do that, just not very consistently. Good to see her doing that even better now.

It is so weird to me how Azarenka can't seem to get any depth on her shots compared to her prime. Both forehand and backhand would go deep onto the baseline. Now she seems to muscle the ball like Muguruza (especially on the fh). And can't get any depth. Why is that? Less weight behind her shots?

PLAYERS LIKE VICK ARE TOO EMOTIONAL ON MAINTAINING INCOMPETENT COACHING TEAM. SHE HAD EVERYTHING TO WIN IN TWO SETS. NOT SERVING WELL CONSISTENTLY, NOT RETURNING WELL AND THE WORST PART IS THAT VICKY PLAYS ORDINARY TENNIS, SO SHE DOESN'T PLACE BALLS IN CORNERS AND THE OPPONENT FACES NO DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY TO RETURN. SHE HAD THE GS BUT NOW NEEDS A NEW DINAMIC COACHING TEAM TO HELP HER TO WIN MAJOR TITLES.

Exactly what I noticed!!!! I see a basic theme with the women... if you just simply hit the ball back across the net to within 3-4' of your opponent... and you end up losing the point, you only have yourself to blame. You have traveled endless miles, put in thousands of hours of practice, an entire team of coaches and relatives have all made the journey to support. So, it should be all out aggressive or go home.

Ukrainian players who are well known now, starting with Yastremska, Svitolina, and Kotsyuk, from some other players should not handshake them even if you’re from a different country, it just shows how immature they are, I wouldn’t even if I win like a mixed doubles match because that’s the only event that guys can face in tournaments and slams, but after matches I will be handshaking the guys instead of the girls, unless the guy is Ukrainian and does have a similar agreement like the three girls here, I will not shake hands for that matter

Tennis is a sport that values fair play and sportsmanship. The post-match handshake is a gesture of mutual respect and acknowledgment between competitors, regardless of who won or lost. Etiquette and Tradition: Handshakes have been a part of tennis etiquette and tradition for many years. It is like a historical feature of the game; basic etiquette carries near-sacred significance. This is the case for an adequate number of people. Unfortunately, WTA has told players they are not required to shake hands with an opponent after a match. Who knows what politically motivated officials will invent in the future. As a former Tennis ITF junior, WTA, and ATP official, I am disgusted when players do not shake hands. That is disrespect not only for the opponent and the game but also for officials and spectators.

the situation is difficult and Ukrainians want to create awareness of what is happening to their country, I tend to agree with you but I also understand the other side. In the end their government is promoting this and athletes must do it, I don’t think they have a choice, a junior recently shook the hand of a Russian rival and I think is facing charges or something by the minister of sport in Ukraine. Kostyuk and Dayana want Russian players banned and that is something that definitely shouldn’t happen, sport was build around a principle of no discrimination that must be followed, if not they would have to ban athletes from all countries that are invading others or killing innocent people like USA and Israel in Gaza, also Qatar and Iran for sponsoring groups like Hamas, we could get to a point where athletes from half of the countries would end up banned.
@donbasnonazi582
@donbasnonazi582 4 ай бұрын
@@dandresaldi Those two last lived in Ukraine quite some time ago. Kostyuk's residence is in Monte Carlo. Yastrtemska lives in France. Remember, it is a sport and not a political event. If they feel strongly about Russian players, they can skip playing tennis but need income. They need to create awareness of what is happening to their country for their country's population first. Sport has nothing to do with that. The Ukrainian flag should be banned from any sports event as well. Ukronazis have been killing civilians in Eastern Ukraine since 2014. Around 16,000 people were killed in Eastern Ukraine, according to UN and OSCE organizations. Just two days ago, they shelled a food market in Donetsk. 28 civilians were killed, including two children, and more than 20 were injured. 3 of them are in serious condition. Those killed were Ukrainians themselves. The only difference was that they were not nationalists. Do those two create awareness about the Tornado nazi battalion? The battalion was so inhuman that it was forcefully dissolved by the Ministry of Defence. The members were prosecuted and jailed for abduction, torture, rape, and killings. Did anyone ban the Ukrainian flag based on that? No, if you act in the interests of the US, no matter what you do, it is all legitimate. If you are truly independent, all the dogs will bark at you. Double standards and hypocrisy.

@gothicsamurai77
@gothicsamurai77 4 ай бұрын
Hope you will never need to understand. Saying it as a Ukrainian. I could explain in a great detail and answer all your questions if you would like - but only if you are interested in actually understanding and not just saying things to say. And don't worry, I will answer it as unbiased as possible - I know of all the viewpoints and understand them - including russian and bystanders' viewpoints. Now, onto answering your actual question: it is about the war, of course, and the fact that the war is very personal to every Ukrainian, while simultaneously not personal to every russian and especially not personal or even serious to any bystander as yourself. Also, to people in peaceful times/countries, sport is a place where no politics is to be expressed, which is a good thing. However, war is not politics - war is way past the differences in opinions/viewpoints and arguments between the sides - war is murder, rape, tragedy, etc. which is very personal and not something trivial like politics, which usually is conducted via diplomacy. So, the moment the diplomacy fails, the politics stops and the war starts. War is not politics period. What is weird is to force someone to shake hands with a person with whom there is no mutual respect/goodwill. The tradition of shaking hands is about mutual respect/goodwill and I know it very well as I am myself a high level college/semi-pro retired tennis player. At the very least, I would suggest you consider just ignoring the no handshake between Ukrainians and russians since it is a deeply personal matter in which you as a bystander don't need to participate by picking a side - note I am not asking you to support or even understand Ukrainians, I simply suggest you do not side with russians by keep asking why there is no handshake, as if it is a terrible wrongdoing by a Ukrainian, while ignoring all the wrongdoing by russians in the first place that has lead to this situation with no handshakes. Cheers

@@Zahra_sama I don't start acting like it at all. Ukraine is not the first and not the last country to go through war. All I am saying is I understand your point, but do not agree with it and it is fine - you never would find me going around telling you publicly or personally how to feel about Gaza genocide. If you don't understand why Ukrainians don't shake hands with their russian opponents it is a you problem (in a sense that you can feel however you want, but don't force others to feel the same way). So, yeah, I only advocate for outsiders to not force Ukrainians to love or respect russians. It is OUR business. If you don't like it - move on, don't condemn Ukrainians - at least have the decency to not put the blame on the victims of the genocide for their emotions.
