UPDATE: The Royal Smoky Eye Brick was definitely not supposed smell bad. VBBeauty has refunded me for it. Because it was bad, I decided to play with the Tuxedo quad and it performed MUCH better than the Royal. However, I did notice it fade a bit after about 6 hours of wear. The lid lustres stayed on beautifully! I didn’t experience anymore fallout nor did they move or melt away. The liner also stayed put all day!

Oh my gosh!!! Finally someone else had one that smelled bad!!! I thought I was the only one. I purchased Tweed and it legit smelled awful and made me want to gag! And I’m not easily bothered by smells! I emailed them asking if it was because of the natural ingredients or what but they didn’t answer. They did offer me a refund though!

I can't stand palettes that have all the colors as one solid brick, it just seems lazy. These are pretty but it would drive me crazy to have them all eventually dirty one another, especially if it's a powdery formula. Take the extra step to separate them. The lustres look lovely, I can see myself using that dark taupe for work, especially if they last as long as you say! Another great review, thank you Michelle!

This eye look is beautiful. The lid lustre is gorgeous!The only thing I purchased was Tuxedo eye palette the day it launched. Unfortunately I'm not thrilled with this at all. The colors are pretty in the pan but I found them very powdery and flat looking on the eye and they faded a lot throughout the day. Plus the palette will not stay closed. It just pops open if you look at it wrong. I have to tape it shut or put a rubber band around it which is very off putting to me. For me this is too expensive for a dry, patchy very mediocre shadows. I'm disappointed! Thank you for showing these.

I went and swatched everything at her Dover St store, loved the liners and the luster pots but wasn’t super impressed with the palettes. I tried on Royal and it was nice, but not brilliant enough (imho) to spend £48.

The blue you're wearing IS really gorgeous! With the amount of shadows I own, I don't think I would buy the powders. Truth be told, and I know this may sound odd, but I don't think I would invest in clean beauty shadows because I just don't think I would be able to use them very much before they go bad. From what I read, it seemed like the timeline of conception to introduction of her beauty brand was rushed. My first thought was that she launched quickly and with eye products because Westman Atelier hadn't introduced eye shadows and liners yet. It felt like her way to get into the clean, luxury arena with those products first. It seems like she should have spent more time in development to get her shadows just right. That being said, the lid lustres are gorgeous. I love that blue on you!

I bought the Tweed brick and Bordeaux eyeliner. The eyeliner is mainly dimethicone which doesn’t wear well on my oily skin lids, it was faded off in 3 hours. Definitely better for drier skin.

Michele, Some thoughts on why you look so stunning in blue. You tend towards colours with a peach or a copper tint to which the blue is a perfect complementary colour. Blue also works well with tans.

The Bronze liner is remarkably similar to Linda Hallberg's Flash Crayons in Levy Flash - had I realised that I wouldn't have bothered with buying the VB eyeliner. Both the VB and LH liners are made in Germany so I do wonder whether its the same lab as the creamy glide-on consistency and longevity are also remarkably similar. There is of course a £6 price difference between them.

I haven’t received my order yet, but I’m so disappointed by the comments here. The level of cynicism is stunning. I have no opinion of VB personally but do like her fashion aesthetic and clothing. I know celebs aren’t clothing designers, but I tend to believe she has a significant role in what the clothing looks and feels like. I doubt she sat back and did nothing re: her makeup line. As for the smell of some palettes, COULD WE PLEASE not start comparing her to J HILL? It’s apples and oranges and utterly undeserved. I have no doubt customer service will resolve this quickly and gracefully (looks like they did from Michell’s comments.) And for all those who seem to detest VB, I encourage you to watch Lisa Eldridge’s video with VB. It’s one of the most surprising, refreshing, funny, and lovely interactions between two women I’ve seen EVER.

My personal opinion is that it is justified, brand, quality vs price point is so off it just feels like a rip-off compared to founders who clearly have shown passion in the make-up throughout their social/media presence - those videos are just PR.
