I can't believe she's gone. She was so much a part of my growing up and adult life. I watch the entire Dinnerladies series about once a month. I remember laughing like a drain with my mum, especially at 'The Ballad of Freda and Barry'. I grew into her humour once I got married and had children, I understood her so much better. I will miss her like a good friend. RIP Ms Wood, and thank you.

Gutted. National treasure is a phrase too often given to those that don’t deserve it but we have certainly lost one today. Multi-talented, supremely funny and groundbreaking, Victoria paved the way for many to follow in her footsteps. She should be up there with Noel Coward in stature for whilst she may not have had the posh accent she was his equal in terms of ability, charm and repartee. Her body of work is unparalleled in it’s range and depth and she just seemed so damn kind too. She was as generous with her writing too, never would she try and hog the best line, she gave it to whoever could get the biggest laugh as that was the most important thing. I hope this sad day leads to more of her work being shown again so a new generation, who I fear sadly don’t know of her talents, can enjoy what we have for so many years. Sales of ‘Womans Weekly’ should go through the roof as all you ‘Freda & Barry’s have some fun and those of us sadly alone can raise an extra large cup of tea in honour of Miss Victoria Wood OBE CBE. “Life is not fair is it ? Some of us drink Champagne in the fast lane, and some of eat our sandwiches by the loose chipping on the A597.”

I liked big muscles, he was thin and lanky; I liked nice manners, he was far too cranky; He blew his nose and then looked in his hanky; Things would never have worked. The day I met him was a real heart-wrencher; I thought that love would be a big adventure; Then saw the spinach on his bottom denture; Things would never have worked. I wanted champagne and oysters, 'Cos that's the way I am; He gave me Vimto... tinned carrots… And spam. Life is tough and love's another hurdle. He always spoke about his one big dream girl! I didn't like that it was Mrs Murkel. Things would never have worked. I wanted love to come and knock our blocks off; But even Venus takes her card and clocks off; His idea of foreplay was to take his socks off; Things would never have worked. I wanted moonlight, roses, And all that silly tosh;
