Cool. There are amazing hacks on KZbin, from a lot of smart people. It's amazing what people can do with a Swiss Army knife.

Alternatively, for the closure, you could use the existing hem in the jeans as a channel for the drawstring. You poke two holes near each other THROUGH ONE LAYER ONLY on the outside of the hem. Tie the string to the handle of the toothpick as before and use the toothpick as a fid to 'inch' the string along through the 'tunnel' of the hem. (You hold the material near the point of the toothpick and push the fid between the thumb and finger of that hand, scrunching the hem up. then with the pushing hand grab the far end of the scrunched material while the other hand grasps the end of the fid and pulls it through the scrunched area. Repeat until the fid gets most or all of the way around.) The string should be long enough to go all the way around and out the second hole with enough left over to tie to the paracord securely. then you can use the string to pull the paracord through just the way electricians use twine (or mule tape, etc.) to pull wires or cable through a conduit. This will require less paracord to make a neater and tighter closure.

I carry a large needle under the saw in my SAK Locksmith
@nikgyver79 жыл бұрын
+RobertoDonatti good idea...but the awl is stronger and comfort for punch,anyway nice option for back up..
@RobertoDonatti9 жыл бұрын
It's a sail needle so it's designed to punch through and the holes it makes are smaller than the ones you do with the awl.
@nikgyver79 жыл бұрын
+RobertoDonatti yes you can use a thinner hole and thread..
@ScorpionRegent8 жыл бұрын
Because fabric frays i would only use this trick for emergencies. It's fine for leather though. Otherwise I would just keep a needle stuck in my hat. Dental floss works great as super strong thread.
@nikgyver78 жыл бұрын
for clothes ect.yes it's for emergencies...but fror some large items and storng fabrics like leather-belts-sack works great. the Dental floss yes is great for sewing,olso the paracord liner is extremly strong(i used in video)..a usual nice idea to carry a needle is inside of the pin-hole but check my No64 video to see a another idea...

did you modify the toothpick so that it will pass through the awl? i attempted to do it and it was way to thick, and the head was even larger.
@nikgyver75 жыл бұрын
no,you dont pass the toothpick through of the awl,you pass the edge of the string through to the string loop.i tie the toothpick because give you better grip,of course you can do it easly without the toothpick.thanks.

why not just use the toothpick as a needle at the point of making the holes with the awl, will be much faster.
