I love my Victorinox Spirit X, I love my LM Wave+ too but I'd rather carry Spirit X on a daily basis. I used to carry it with the LM nylon sheath in my belt too as the stiff leather sheath that comes with it tends to stick and poke me in my waist when sitting. Until I got the pocket clip. Personally between Spirit X and Wave+ having to own and used both. Spirit X is the winner. Thanks for the video! Cheers!

Both great tools of course! I believe I like the Spirit X better but truthfully the Charge + G10 Earth is what I carry 90% of the time. It even sure why that is, I haven’t gotten fully to the root of it yet

Hi, I have Wave+ and Spirit X. I love them both, but every time I have the Wave in my pocket I have to make a hole in wood, I have to unscrew a recessed screw, I have to change the battery of kids toy, and always have to go and take my Spirit. Also I've had to use twice Leatherman's warranty, and never with Victorinox. At the end it's up to the user to decide. I'm saving for Spirit MX Clip now. Great channel, I'm checking your other vids as well. Cheers 👍

Everyone has their tasks that they run into regularly and have a standard of quality of how those tasks get done! For example I love both but often find myself missing the diamond file the most because the regular file on the Spirit does the same job but the end result, deployment and quality are just a little better with the diamond on the leatherman.

I've had to file the plier teeth on my wave, glad to know the Spirit does not have that issue, will look into getting this multi tool thx

I always take the Phillips out by first slightly lifting the file then you have the perfect space just to raise the Phillips without even having to use nail... it's actually one of the easiest tool to access 😆.... Learned this with the big swisstool, that Phillips is a nail breaker

Annoying we have to do that but good tip!

Great video. As for the can opener I like the Victorinox better than the Leatherman and I love Leatherman. Victorinox works differently, however one you learn how to use it you’ll never go back

You won’t regret it! It’s a freakin awesome multitool. Definitely one of the best

To open the Philips head screwdriver, you have to half open the can opener in front of it first. Then there is plenty of grip available. It's no big deal. The same is for the scissors. Half open the can opener and then the Philips head screwdriver for an easy grip to open the scissors. It's better than breaking your nail.

For me the grips on the V are a little more comfy,i like the scissors better and the rest as you mentioned. But tha main reason i like the V better than my wave is im plyiers mode ,i never get pinched ,not to mention tge thought they put into it and the build quality. After 2 weeks i gave the Wave to a family member ,just wish got the VS years sooner

Aloha, good video. I love my Spirit X; the build quality is outstanding. What was that phillips driver adapter you were using? I didn't see in the notes or transcript.
@EngineersPerspective701 Жыл бұрын
The Spirit x is amazing. The adapter is from Leatherman and works dang well even though it’s designed for the Rebar and super tool 300 Philips drivers. Who makes that bit set that you carry in your sheath, and do all of those bits and the adapter come with it? The bit adapter didn’t appear to fit perfectly on the phillips for your Spirit, any issues with it? I was thinking about getting this exact setup with the leatherman sheath and would like to get a bit card like you have with yours. Thanks.

Leatherman sells it and although it doesn’t fit perfectly it’s 100% functional without issue. Highly recommend it from their website

Regarding the handles, I'd have to disagree when you say the Wave feels better. The Spirit does have minor flex in the handles when applying force, but the big issue I have with the Wave is that when bearing down tightly on the Wave handles, a couple of times I pinched the meat of my palm between the protruding spines of the outside accessible tools, which hurts to the point of driving tears out of the eyes and leaves a bruise. This cannot happen with the Spirit X.
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
Definitely can pinch but realistically I've only had it happen twice in about 4yrs. So let's call it 1% of the time. Personally the 99% good means that the wave handles are more comfortable daily. All that said it really doesn't matter. They're both well above average comfort that I can't complain.

Not really fair to say that the LM removable bit works on the Phillips. Did you actually try it? Wobbly as hell!

Tried it a lot actually! Wobbly as hell for sure but 100% works

What model leatherman sheath is that ur using? I have the original Swiss tool from when it first released, I basically lightly sanded the handles with 200 grit, works good. Did that with my juice s2 v2
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
It’s the medium size “Nylon Sheath with Pockets” that Leatherman sells on their website. The sanding would be nice for some grip on this slippery thing but I don’t know if I can bring myself to ruining the finish!
@jamesbarisitz47942 жыл бұрын
In depth review. A gunsmith checkering file would handle stainless easily and allow for strategic placement of areas of grip you deem optimal. It ain't yours till you mod it!
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
Can't disagree there, although it would be difficult to bring myself to do it!

Question, I just got my spirit x and noticed the pliers have some play/wiggle to them. Does yours have any?
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
Not when they were new but after 3 months of good use they have developed a bit of play. Very surprising honestly! Unsure if it's a big deal or not as it still cuts small gauge stranded okay and that's what matters for me
@leotam33722 жыл бұрын
I wish the plier head wasn't so giant, and the Philips did get slippery to me on polished machine screws with thinly cut heads. Cammed out so badly
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
You'd like a thinner plier head or smaller overall? Agree 100% with the camming out. I wish they didn't polish all the tools so much.
@leotam33722 жыл бұрын
@@EngineersPerspective701 I prefer thinner tips for dealing with small split rings, jewelry, etc, but I guess I carry a squirt/style for that

Didnt like the scissors, blade and general funky shape of the spirit, otherwise its great, better than most. What i really like is the swisstool x, a design dating back to 97, very nicely build, best scissors out there, file is very agressive, all tools very useful. I think of it like a tank, like the surge but more refined. The replacable cutters and t shank are great, but overall the swisstool wins for me.
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
The scissors are small yes but 100% Vic quality and that’s what really matters for me. Enjoy the thinness behind the edge on the blade but it definitely is a bit odd at times with its swooping shape. Handle are awesome though! I think I’d adore the swisstool but I just haven’t been carrying the bigger and heavier tools lately. It’s probably the next on the list of multitools for me but it’s pretty far down the list of tools overall for now
@peddypeoples9412 жыл бұрын
@@EngineersPerspective701 i only have the big tools now because on the belt the weight is managable (the swisstool even on the waistband of sweatpants lol) the surge feels subtantial but quite crude and clunky in execution vs the swisstool. I sat here for an hour manually smoothing the rough edges from this thing, should not happen at this price.

I have a brand new spirit x. Extracting various tools is a pain. I have regular nails and I have no problems with other victorinox sak. I'm thinking to return it to Amazon and to get a wave+. It is a pity because it is a wonderful multitool, but is really difficult for me 😔
@EngineersPerspective7012 жыл бұрын
I feel like I have regular fingernails too and it’s a frequent thing to break or hurt one on this thing. And same with no issues in SAKs. Still really like this thing but it sure can be a pain! Will say the charge+ g10 is probably my favorite overall tool still and the wave hits the same way!
@sysnetonline2 жыл бұрын
@@EngineersPerspective701 I solved the problem! Open the hard blade halfway, insert a small screwdriver between the blade and the spring and slightly pry to relieve the spring pressure. Done! Now it opens softly and stays closed securely!
