Got my MeZillch fix! But like any junkie: I want more! Great video as always. You always show me something I didn't know I really want to buy/make. Suddenly I find myself on Amazon using the search term "Wiha". And you do know that at least a token appearance of a tictac box is rapidly becoming a required element of your videos ...

THANK YOU! Saved me hours of googling. Bought the Wiha bit, sawed it off and glued a magnet, perfect. .
@TheInchiiАй бұрын
May I ask what kind of magnet did you glued in? And 1 or more and how does it work?
@hakanmaclean9203Ай бұрын
@@TheInchii just some small neodyme magnet. but the glue released and it's now stuck in the cybertool 😅. works OK anyway.
@TheInchiiАй бұрын
@@hakanmaclean9203 I got Cybertool M today put 4x2mm magnet inside and it stays on its own as bits are not strong enought to take it out, only way to take it out is to use pile of 4x2mm magnets like 5-6 or more put them all inside and then take it out works like a charm no need to glue magnet. But what worries me is that those standard bites sits very light in this holder, actually I think if I would swing a bit stronger they would fall off also with magnet inside, they supposed to make stronger ball, that hold would be atleast X2 so strong. And the price 75euro, for 60euro i bought new swiss champ, now thinking about returning this Cybertool, and just buy some small 4mm screwdriver or very small ratchet for 20-30% of the price of Cybertool. I am a bit disappointed, I'd this would cost around 40-45euro I would leave it probably but 75 is a bit I think hight, maybe just gonna try to find some secondhand for decent price.

The Victorinox cyber tools were introduced in the year 2000. There are four models in the family. The base model is the Cybertool M (originally 34). I bought this one after it arrived in the USA. at that time I could not find it. I bought it from the USA and it was only 59 or 69 dollars don't remember. it was the lowest price I found. In the Local store sold for 115$ Canadian and after the exchange the price was much lower than in Canada. after coming to Canada in 1991, the first online shop from the Cabelas catalog was found in a local fishing store in Montreal. Many times I bought that time by calling them by phone. it was easier because those customer service people knew all item's names. just give them a hint or explain, if you want to do something. The catalog was big and before then I saw it in the 80s in the Germany Neckermann catalog. I lived for one year in the UK and bought cameras and big stuff from Argo's catalog companies. Argos (retailer) Argos Limited is a British catalog retailer operating in the United Kingdom and formerly in the Republic of Ireland, acquired by Sainsbury's supermarket Nikkermann catalog.

Use a Gedore 620 bit adapters 1/4”-1/4” hexagon to square together with the flat screwdriver in the pioneer or better the cadet. Then you can use all bits. Thanks anyway for your videos, I enjoy them.

@@MeZillch For the bits I use “Wera Bit Check 7, bit assortment” and replaces the bitholder with the 1/4 -1/4 and a 50 mm bits so it fits perfectly underneath. Really nice.

A Leatherman flat bit fits snugly into the Leatherman bit extender, and standard 1/4 hex bits fit too. Do you know if a LM flat bit fits your DIY adapter snugly?
@MeZillch5 жыл бұрын
A good question. I'm happy to report the LM bit extender fits very snuggly, however random insertion will cause LOOSE fit results 2/3rds of the time. This is because the two star points of the hex which have the spring tension applied [visibly identified the the presence of a tiny ball bearing on the outer barrel] must be the 2 of the 6 faces used to grab the flat bit, i.e. there are a total of three possible insertion orientations, 1 o'clock, 3 o'clock, and 5 o'clock and only the one with the spring friction holds tightly. EDIT: fixed clock numbers

@@MeZillch Thanks, that is helpful. I have been trying to resolve the "mini" bits issue for a long time. Converting the 4mm socket to the standard 1/4 hex socket is awesome!
@Gadgetdad0075 жыл бұрын
Really cool idea but I don’t know why you had to make the adapter shorter. It would have been to your advantage to leave it at its full length as you will only occasionally need to use it. It would still be portable to stick in a little holder. 👍
@MeZillch5 жыл бұрын
At about 6.5 inches long the Wiha 28581 is too big to fit in a Tic Tac box which is where I plan on keeping the new adapter along with a set of extra bits. Also, unmodified it had a rounded end, not flat, so at least some of it needs to be sawed off to make a flat surface to glue down the magnet.

hey, im a big fan..question, you know the victorinox midnight manager? I have the white light one. .but if u had the red light one, is it be possible to change out the red led for the white one? . and I wonder if it's cost effective, considering the price jump between the two. .n e way, great job, keep it up! !
@MeZillch5 жыл бұрын
Assuming both products take the same battery I would assume you can swap the different color LEDs but I have never tried. Although the concept is good I find the LED's light output is pretty weak compared to a Photon [made by LRI] plus I prefer the lithium coin cell batteries [ex CR2016 , CR2025, and CR2032] they use over the harder to find button cells used in the Vics.
@OutsideTheTargetDemographic5 жыл бұрын
I bought an LED flashlight from a Dollar Tree, and tore the white LED out of it. Popped my Midnight Manager open, soldered out the red LED, soldering in the white LED, swapped the battery to a higher voltage button cell, and presto, I now have a white light. It is substantial brighter, but still very dim. Dedicated light will always be better, but two in one, you know? 😉

Personally I'd be happy to use 4mm precision bits considering the sort of usage it's designed for but I'd add a magnet so I can use standard bits. I'd use a 'sacrificial' syringe to pump a blob of Araldite. or some strong glue that will also 'fill', in the hole, then stick your rare-earth magnet to the end of a bit that's been covered in grease so any glue that gets on it won't stick very well. You'd probably need some pliers to pull it out still (probably best to use a flat/slotted bit) but it should leave the magnet in there. Edit: I haven't tried it so don't sue me if it doesn't work ;-)
@MeZillch2 жыл бұрын
There are two problems with gluing a magnet to the bottom of the shaft. 1. That bottom surface is not flat; it is rounded, so the adhesive contact area is much smaller than the disc magnet's surface area itself. This would lessen the strength of the bond.2. Adding such a magnet to the bottom will raise the bits and the official clinging method for the Victorinox bits will be defeated because they rely on a spring ball on the side if each one clicking into a slot in the driver hole. They would no longer be able to reach that depth.
@sandy_knight2 жыл бұрын
@@MeZillch 1. Yeah, I gathered that. That's why I'd use a filling glue, araldite or maybe red threadlock. At least there's something for it to key into. 2. Agreed, but that wouldn't bother me as I'd only use it with standard, single ended bits anyway.
