Seeing the Wooten family live was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Not only are they masters of their instruments but they are next-level entertainers. I can still remember each big solo even though it must have been 18 yrs ago or so. I’d never seen a longer or more captivating drum solo (everyone else left the stage for it). I was really only familiar with Victor before the show, so when Reggie started playing slap guitar my tiny mind was truly blown.

Rolling off the table & sweating to the funk! Super-cool & makes-me-happy record! It reminds me of a decades ago Joe Cocker interview, it was when Joe was down & out with drugs, a local TV reporter asks him “why should people come see you?” Joe breathes deep, “I give the people what they want, sweaty art.” Y’all got sweaty art & space between the notes like prince. Solid funk down to the sweaty socks. Y’all are welcome at any BBQ I’m at. Thank y’all for an enjoyable sound.

Then came Parliament, Slave, The Ohio Players, Latimore, Graham Central Station, The Bar-Kays,LTD, Isley Brothers, Brothers Johnson, Rose Royce, Blackbird, War, Kool & The Gang, Brick and many more!! Old school funk will never die!! I want to know more about these guys!!
