Let me spin you a tale. Have you ever seen the cloud trails behind planes. You ever wonder how crossed they could be. Truly you couldn't see how. Planes today are all on designated paths, you'll never see how creative the trails can be. Then again...you wouldn't want to see it either. For it won't be just trails of cloud. But trails of fire, lead, and steel. I recall one such story. Let me spin you a tale. I was in a p-400 ,5,000 ft up, we were engaged in heavy combat. One ally to my left just above me. Three targets behind us. And a bombing target 5 km out. They were raining hell fire. They had finished off our other ally's in this run and came back around for those who broke through. That would be us. I carried one 50lb bomb. My ally to my left had three. We were mercilessly shot up. I was missing part of my right wing. And my engine would give soon. My ally was smoking but otherwise ok. We were 4 km's away from the bombing target. I was now more heavily damaged. My ally caught fire and dove off to the right over the top of me and over to my full right. He continues right untill he fully pulls away and does a semi loop to counter attack. The oil from his leaking engine splattered my cockpit when he performed this . It wasn't in my way or anything, but it told me he too would be in a blazing inferno all over. If the flames reached the oil. He's firing apon them now. I can see when I turn my head. This doesn't fully stop there attack however. And my engine fails due to constant fire. I cannot express how much fear I had. We were nearly there. Just a few more moments. Is all I could muster to say. After a few more moments of constant abuse on my plane. I was here. The target. I dove down and prepared to drop the bomb..my ally's gunfire had stopped and was replaced only by enemy fire. I was alone. My hand lay on the lever . But it was too late. My tail fin was shot off. Including my entire right wing. Sending me spiraling out of control. I tried to pull open my cockpit to eject. But my engine caught fire. Covering my entire plane in flames. I was trapped. As I hurtles towards the ground. I stared back at where the main attack had happened . The trails still filled in the sky's. As the screams and sounds of our bomber planes falling out of the sky . The clouds a tangled mess. It showed me right there. In that split second. The creativity. But brutality of what man can do to another. So my friend. Let me spin you a tale.
