In Japanese the move Return is called Ongaeshi, which means something like returning the/a favor, I guess returning the favor or training and loving them..?? Maybe it would be a Tackle with the power of friendship lol

I usually think of it as ”return on investment”. You sink the time and effort to befriend your Pokémon, they ‘return’ that effort in battle and try harder.

You're on the final stretch! Just 5 more trainers to go (Elite Four and the Champion) until you beat the game! I'm pretty sure you already know about it, but if you go back into Cerulean Cave, you can fight a martial artist for a Kubfu which you can then evolve into Urshifu. Very cool pokemon, also incredibly powerful. If you're worried about it being too powerful, I won't spoil, but I'll assure you that the Elite Four and Champion teams have a full team of Pokemon that's just as, if not more op than an Urshifu.

Yes Urshifu Rapid strike is insane because it breaks the lead sashes inside the league also i do suggest you look at some parts of the teams of the E4 because doing them blind is going to be one heck of a challenge lmao

Return has not been shown in the anime. But the move return is translated directly in Japanese as "Return Favor". In the manga it's shown as a generic hit, but I guess it's just weaponized friendship.

I'd always interepreted the move "Return" as relating to the phrase "return a favour" as in, by loving the Pokémon, they return the favour by doing more damage, haha! But interesting to question it! that crit on diancie didn't matter, it would get knocked out by icicle crash the next turn because it's hard coded to mega evolve, and diancie's mega form traded defense for offense, so it wouldn't killed anyways

I was thinking that Return refers to the fact that when a Pokemon has high friendship it returns to you when you try to release him. But kinda makes sense even that way
