Shout out to Amy Walster and James Pellington: the service at Victory is OUTSTANDING. I bought a second hand amp on Reverb and during shipment one of the switches got damaged. They promptly addressed my request and helped me with the part. This AMP is WONDERFUL. IT is exactly as I was expecting it to be.... loud lush sounds and very clean. Perfect Pedal platform. I own a few Victory amps, BD1, Sheriff 44, VC35, V30 MKII, and I have always thought about getting a V40. I finally did just recently and love it. I suits my classic/modern rock style playing more than any of the other amps, being I am a big pedalboard guy and always want a single channel amp that takes pedals good. This one is the ticket for sure. I also got the Victory V112 WC-75 cabinet for it, and wow, that cabinet is no joke. its top notch and compliments the V40 extremely well. I can play any live gig or band practice with the V40 head and the 112 cab without dragging too much gear. I wish I got the V40 sooner. Keep these great products coming Martin. Very helpful video! I love this amp and I use it a lot for the demos in my KZbin channel and also playing with my jazz band. I found it specially interesting to learn how the voice and mid-kick switches work. Obviously this mysterious Danish guitar player makes any piece of crap sound good, but I can attest that this amp indeed sounds gorgeous and is very unique and versatile.

The digital reverb on mine is very good. It does not have the horrible nasal sound of spring reverb.

Can you get a decent break up tone on the lowest wattage for home use?

Yes, also if you switch the V40 down to the single ended mode on the back while in low power mode (on the front) it will go down to approx 1 Watt, switch between the V4 and V5 valve to keep their wear even. This should give you break up tone at lower volumes! Thanks Victory

I was thinking about the Duchess more than one year ago. But I made the decision to buy it just now. Why? Because when we want to buy a guitar or an amplifier we need clean and defined sound which belongs exactly to this guitar and to this amp. Don’t let make a demo to someone like Rabea (he’s good for sure, but his genre is not for everyone), but the style of Danish Pete is incredibly tasteful, lovely and understandable for each of us. And by the way, my choice is Victory DP40.

Hi Dominici it would need to be a pedal with quite a lot of gain, we don't see why not though. The V40 is quite a clean amp but with gainy pedal it should work nicely. Thanks victory

Awesome amps, I love mine but I do have a couple of gripes! I bought mine new in the uk and it came with a European plug, which is very odd indeed - no speaker cable with amp or cab straight out of the boxes, so couldn't use immediately. Furthermore, the amp bag is considerably larger than the head so I need to pad it out when travelling and (very oddly) the 112 cabinet came without a cover at all - why? If you encase the head in a, albeit oversized, bag then why not have some sort of cover for the speaker cabinet too? I have the cream cabinet so would be especially prone to unsightly marks. None of this detracts from the superb amp and cab but did leave me questioning such basic attention to detail - at least ship them with the appropriate leads so the customer can actually use them when received - we don't all have boxes of speaker cables and kettle leads. And, yes, I bought mine through an authorised dealer!!

What happens if you switch to Single-Ended Mode while you are on the High setting of the amplifier?

It's perfectly safe to do so, though we would nevertheless recommend either turning the amp off, or turning the volumes to zero when making any change to the amp's power settings - for the good of your ears. The amp will be fine...

@@VictoryAmps That is clear, but what I meant is that this option works only if you are on Low setting, or when you are on High setting, and switch in the back to Single-Ended, will be the amp working on 20W? Sorry if it 1is clear, but for me it isn't :(

@@Etlergyerek Yes, the single ended option works on both high and low-power modes. At high-power single-ended mode you get around 1.5W according to Victory's website. This is because in single-ended mode the amp works in Class A. Honestly it still feels very loud at high-power single-ended mode, but it's a different character. The amp compresses starts to overdrive way sooner in this mode.

​@@SanadKhalid7 The Duchess is very good for blues and clean sounds, very good as a pedal platform. The Jack family goes from cleans all the way through to heavy gain tones. I think the Jack could be a good shout for the different styles of music you are looking for. It's a really versatile amplifier.

Reverb's amp 👎very bad. Suggest a modification to the reverb. The internal decay setting changes nothing to the acid sound. Personally, I can change or add components. It lacks warmth and depth. Spoils the sound (DeepL Translation)
