My thoughts on the 12mm WW2 Victrix releases... might be a bit rambly and ranty

PAk40 + Sd11, Loyd + 6pdr and Su76 all out this week, Sd7 +88, M4A1, British German, US and British paras all about to be released in the next few weeks. Jeeps, Pz III variants, N Africa infantry all being worked on. All this takes time.

10mm Pendraken and 12mm Victrix evidently blend well. Definitely going to be using this Victrix line in my Battlegroup battallion level games.

Cheers, although the Bren carriers seem a little small compared to the tanks

Take a look at ScaleFiend miniatures. Perfect fit with Victrix (and goes well with Pendraken) and they have a lot more available

Firstly the painting is really nice on the models. I will tell you straight up I co own the Victrix 12mm/1/144th WW2 range. I have to take exception to the comment about trying to create a scale that does not fit in with anything else. 1/144th/12mm has been around for many years and there are many companies making models in this size in both plastic and metal. Most metal manufacturers even though they call their ranges 10mm are actually 12mm/1/144th. This was the whole reason we created the range as there was plenty of other models around that would fill gaps when we could not produce everything fast enough or could not plough the money into the more esoteric models that would not make a return on the investment. It also fits in nicely with all the N gauge model railway terrain which is plentiful. I know people like to see conspiracy theories around every corner these days but trying to make a one off size is not what we are doing and not the way we think. 12mm is a great size as it is big enough to hold a lot of detail and yet small enough to get a lot on the table and it just looks right on the table top. So no evil master plans here, just a couple of guys who love WW2 models and gaming.

I do like these models / figures. I have pretty much everything in the range. I have gone with 10mm terrain (Battlescale do nice resins), which seems a good fit. For the basic figures, then six per bag is fine, but I just don’t need 6 Puma’s, so I wish they offered an option of either buying single sprues or doing two vehicle dual packs. It is a very brave and big investment by the company, so I hope it goes well for them.

1/144 has been a popular modelling scale for years and there is a huge amount of models, mainly aircraft, available. Its popular for many reasons but in particular that the completed models dont take up a large amount of storage or display space. Except for giants like the B-36 Peacemaker, C-5 Galaxy etc Various companies, mainly Japanese such as Dragon, FToys and Takara, have released 1/144 AFVs for WW2 and modern era and there are a number of 3d printing companies who release excellent armour models. Now I am not into wargaming as much as i am into modelling but 1/144 provides a best of all worlds type deal. Aside from say, 1/700 or maybe 1/350i cant think of a scale where you can have a Fletcher class destroyer, a selection of tanks and aircraft all in the same display. And with Victrix you can also populate a display with nicely detailed figures (which is less easy to do in 1/350 and 1/700)

I love Victrix also but like you I find the range too limited and the assembly is a faff. I'd recommend ScaleFiend miniatures. Great detail and no assembly required! The Puma is just made up of just a hull and turret. The range is also way more extensive and works perfectly with my Victrix and Pendraken models

Well done. I couldn't agree more on scale...why, why not do 15mm? Still... I fell for warlords napoleonic trick. What can be said? Beautiful figs, some possibilities for basing n at great prices...and useless. I've grown my 15s up to 18 mm n now I've wasted sooo much time and effort on those bastard scaled figs! Ugh. I want victrix but I won't be tricked again. Thanks.
