This is perfect. I'm trying to figure out a way to turn on my generator when my battery gets low. But with simple technology and not rewiring my generator. My generator has an option to turn on when my house power goes out. For my trailer, I want generator to turn on when battery gets low. Your solution will help me to feed a hot line to the generator to get it to think the power is on. In your scenario, when the battery is high. I'll feed your signal wire to a small inverter to feed 120 to the generator. When battery gets low, I'll use your idea to open the circuit leading to the small inverter, thus cutting the 120 feed to the generator, making it think the power went out. Then the generator should turn on! Just gotta figure out your parts to send the signal to small inverter. Thank you for the video! Chris

You clever man. Excellent and simple application. I bought the 712 versus smartshunt purely for the relay but this is a great way to use it.

Fantstic video. Just what I have been looking for! NC and NO, NC stands for Normally Closed, NO stands for Normally Open. A relay that requires power to make the thing happen is NO, a relay that requires power to stop the thing happening is NC Edit: Really wish I could like this a thousand times, you may have just saved my sanity!

To my dismay I found this out about 20 minutes after uploading the video and added it to the description. 👍👍👍

Thanks heaps mate just the video I'm after, I brought the temp sensor with mine and want to run computer fans on-top of the batteries so when it gets to a certain temperature ( from changing at high amps or using high amps running appliance's) I can then switch the fans on via preset relay so it will help keep air circulation and keep the battery temps down especially in the summer months

So glad you found this useful as i couldn’t find much on yt about it. I think the built in relay can handle 20amps, but double check 👍

@@ProjectCamper hey mate just wired my fans in today, works perfectly!! Took a bit of diagnosing why It wasn't working after some frustration turns out the relay is only a 4 post but the harness that came with it is 5. I had my fans wired to the non functional wire, I thought originally that maybe they pins are joined internally but after doing a conductive test it states it doesn't So if you ever go to Jaycar and order a relay and harness I suggest you make sure the relay is proper for the harness or least use the right pin as it a 50/50 if you don't look lol But got it all sorted works perfectly fine 👍

That’s great, it took me ages to work out the voltage switching but you soon work it with a lot of head scratching 👍

I detest them, absolutely don’t trust them one bit there used mainly for on/off switching , I will 100% be watching Sunday , 👍👍👍👍❤️
